Check with your local American Legion/Veterans of Foreign Wars Post, and if you're a college town many colleges have student veteran organizations that do great things for the community. My own local university has a group called the Student Veteran Alliance that has been known to do awareness campaigns for veteran suicide, among other community outreach programs.
