Does anyone know how long a hardship release takes?

Im getting a hardship release for finanacial reasons and want to know how long this process would take?

I've never understood how losing your source of income alleviates financial hardship...

This will always depend on your unit, your MOS, and I also see you are Army Guard. How much of your contract have you served, did you receive a bonus, and in my 30+ years in the Guard and Reserve- I have never seen a hardship release. I saw it when I was AD- but never in the Guard. did you have to move because of your civilian job?

Have you tried asking to go IRR first to try and get your other stuff straightened out?

I'll echo the IRR request. Also, utilize the chain. Politeness, professionalism, and persistence can go a long way in a short amount of time.

Not sure about your circumstances but I initiated a couple of hardship releases when I was an AGR readiness NCO. Both soldiers were getting released due to financial reasons so they could go Active Duty. When a soldier would come to me with a financial issue due to either no job or low paying job I would try and put that soldier in contact with Guard members that owned or managed a business. Also some soldiers worked at good paying jobs and those businesses were hiring. I feel that no soldier in the Guard or Reserves should be without a full time job, if needed, especially with the sheer number of individuals that serve.
