You can google "does the American Legion help vets with bills?" - and all kinds of links will pop-up. Many organizations will only assist with "life sustaining needs" such as rent, groceries, and healthcare. Telephones and internet, while convenient to have, are not necessary for the sustainment of life. Also look into SSVF grants. These grants are given to nonprofit groups to help pay bills if your in arrears.
