They will contact GA and help you to find a unit. They might be hurting for team leaders and can put in a good word. I'm active so I'm not too sure how that all works, but I'd figure that would be a good start! Good luck! There are only so many slots for a certain rank in a certain mos, on any one unit's MTOE. The best time to start asking is October, the beginning of the physical year. That is the time frame that each state is given what slots that they have to fill for the next year. Basically who they need to try and fill for.

You may need to drop rank in order to get in if the mtoe is full for the E5 slots. (No disrespect but it may need to happen. Not that I've personally seen it happen, but it has been known to happen) Of course, this is all speculation until you contact a recruiter. The other thing is be sure to get a POC for the unit's readiness NCO. This is the AGR person who will be able to give you a straight answer about the needs of the unit at the current time. It also wouldn't hurt to try and talk with the unit's First sergeant.

Hope this helps and good luck. Please update us in case you need extra help. The Georgia Guard has multiple MP line units with the 179th MP CO in Savannah, GA being closest to the GA/ FL line. I am not sure what side of the state you are relocating to but if it is on the east coast the 179th is your answer. As one of the previous respondent's stated the IST coordinator is your first point of contact. The GA ARNG IST coordinator is Mr. Anthony Gilkes, his contact information can be found on outlook global. The most successful way to complete an IST is to do it coordinated. Mr. Gilkes works diligently to increase the overall end strength of the GA Guard with MOS qualified and capable personnel who are ready to work upon transfer.
