I know about the Call to Active Duty that comes out every year. Does anyone know any other options? What about deployments can you stay on Active Duty if you deploy? Does anyone know of any other options, besides Call to Active Duty, to transition from National Guard to active duty? 2018-07-05T11:15:59-04:00 1LT Jacob Johnston 3768713

I am getting back into the National Guard but ultimately want to go Active Duty. We have had about 10 officers in the last 12 months coming in under this program to Italy. My only recommendation is that upon reentry to active duty, you ensure that an Statement of Serivice is done and all prior service is accounted for. Many officers are told to wait until you report to their duty station, but that is causing delay on pay and entitlements. For my last deployment, there were all sorts of NG carryovers from the last unit we replaced. I think it's fair to say this happens at a lot of units in theater, since there's always people who drop out at premob, or in theater for every reason. I'm sure there is some guy who doesn't want to deploy that would gladly give up their slot. Hope that helps. Although, I'm not sure how many commissioned AGR positions they have in comparison to enlisted.

I know the guard has it's own AGR program, but it's a lot more nepotistic. Not sure what this consisted of, but hopefully this is helpful.
