I am on my initial contract. Does anyone know ways to have orders deleted? 2015-07-23T14:26:08-04:00 SGT Private RallyPoint Member 838085

I recently received orders for Fort Drum. But you can only do it one time. Also keep in mind , you may find yourself on a short tour. Once it is signed, make sure that the Retention NCO gets it to your S1 and they get it to the Reassignments section to be sent to HRC for the deletion. Also, like others have said as well...Ft Drum is a nice place if you are an out doors type. Unfortunately, it doesn't look good for you. You can hope that you can talk your branch manager into changing your orders. Sometimes your career counselor can help out with this, as they are able to look up requisitions put in from other posts to where you might wanna go. If they have this, then there is a CHANCE that branch might cancel it. Most of the time though branch is not willing to change orders unless you have a legitimate reason to not being able to go (it's cold there is not legitimate). If they are still unable to cancel it, you will have to sign a DEC statement which will pretty much end your career.

However, I loved Fort Drum when I was there (2010-2013) and would go back if the Army sent me there. Although it does get cold, you have Syracuse and Canada not too far away. And as SGM Quick said, if your an outdoorsy person, you'll love it. You will learn from it and improve in your career field as you meet new fellows and get involved with new tasks. The last thing you want to do is hinder your career by refusing to PCS. Remember we are in a downsizing army! That would be the place were I would start. I would be cautious about this also. I remember back in the you could do this but it would bar you from re-enlisting. I don't think they do that anymore but if someone thinks you are getting over on the system your next orders could be Korea or Kuwait.
