The only 11 series in the USAR is out of Hawaii and Pacific Islands (100th Infantry Battalion), as well as some one-off spots here and there. You could also potentially fill any 00F (MOS immaterial) position as an 11C. My guess is the MOS listed on the promotion order is just an error, but if they need you back in an 11C role, is that a deal-breaker for you? I have gone back and forth between primary and secondary MOS several times for different positions; the unit just generates a new order swapping them (National Guard). Sometimes its a clerical error sometimes it to get you promoted. I could be wrong and sometimes am, If you got picked up as an 11Series for promotion it could be because your current PMOS had higher numbers for promotion. Look at your Promotion orders it should show your Primary and secondary. MOS and what you were picked us as if I recall.

On a Side note I served in a Civil Affairs Battalion as an 11B and then an 11Z with no Infantry slots on the MTOE. But I did have one of the required MOS' on the UMR. It won't hurt you unless there is a glut of other Soldiers with your MOS, It pays to have secondary and additional MOS's come promotion time, you are more marketable to big Army :) 1SG Dennis Hicks Tue, 14 Jul 2020 16:06:55 -0400 2020-07-14T16:06:55-04:00 Response by SSG Kenneth Ponder made Jul 14 at 2020 4:18 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/does-anyone-know-why-my-promotion-orders-could-have-me-listed-as-my-prior-mos?n=6101646&urlhash=6101646

They promoted you in the career field they needed. You’ll get orders for where you look best from a talent management standpoint.

You can get reassigned (and keep your rank) but that’s the 150 meter target. Your 50 would be to link up with your gaining unit as you're probably going to a “will train” or immaterial position. Either one requires you to further qualify for where you’ve been slotted.

As a 13B, I was reassigned out of an immaterial position (drill sergeant) to a “will train” in some information ops unit. Its possible that when you submitted or it was entered into the system, it listed your old NCO as an additional MOS. IF that is the case, the promotion board will look at all MOSs you have noted in the system. I reported this as an issue as soldiers should not be considered for promotion in an MOS they have competed in year (five to ten year time frame).

In any case, my guess is they popped it in as it was listed on your 2A or other document.

That said, there are many combat series MOS's available, especially in the training unit. Most are good opportunities for senior promotions (SFCs, MSGs and some SGMs). But it usually means more travel and some longer hours prepping for training weekends where you train soldiers on re-classification courses. But that might not be too bad as these days, cost of travel expenses are now becoming part of the position (whereas in the past these were out of pocket expenses). Even air travel is covered. Check with the new unit if they have a unit or detachment close to your home of record. They tend to be very flexible to work with to retain skilled instructors, especially if you're looking for future promotions and willing to travel. I took a stint and it turned my career around (was an SSG for 12 years before taking a position as a SFC in an MP Training unit). Eventuallly led me to reach the rank as a CSM for a 2-star general. So give it a try.
Good Luck and Congrats on the Promotion to SFC>
BOB S
CSM (R) CSM Bob Stanek Tue, 14 Jul 2020 22:03:58 -0400 2020-07-14T22:03:58-04:00 Response by MAJ Ronnie Reams made Jul 15 at 2020 8:47 AM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/does-anyone-know-why-my-promotion-orders-could-have-me-listed-as-my-prior-mos?n=6103504&urlhash=6103504

Used to be the 442d Infantry and/or the 100th Bn (Neishi) were in the USAR out in the Pacific, more American Japanese out that way.
