The army invests a lot of money in training aviators. So they prefer younger soldiers that have the ability to provide a lengthy career. I got picked up as a specialist first look. But there are some people in my class that didn’t get picked up until their second look. If that happens, keep your head high and polish up your packet for resubmit. Recently spoke to a classmate who is a retired CW4/IP/IFE and he's teaching Primary at Ft. Rucker. He says there is a very real shortage of flight school students right now. He says there is no better time to submit your packet for flight school. If you are at all interested, get that packet in now! Best of luck!
