Does anyone still clean like they live in the barracks and have an inspection on Friday morning?

I was cleaning the bathroom in my home this morning and all I could think of was "man I wish I had some Brasso." This then made me think what am I doing getting ready for an inspection. None the less I cleaned every square inch of my bathroom. I have found myself also holding my children who are responsible to cleaning their bathroom to the same standards.

No not at the moment. My husband and kids are doing everything, since I just got home off of a year long mobilization. I am just doing the inspections! I hope it stays this way, since it is really, really, awesome like this.

My wife and I still clean our house like we are going to have to clear post housing someday. I still hang my clothes in military fashion and roll my t-shirts, socks and underwear. I have never been able to break that habit. And don't get me started on weapons inspections after coming back from the range. lol

I work maintenance / custodial duties for a municipality police department. When I clean, I clean like there is going to be a Brigade CSM inspection. My co-worker never served so he doesn't understand. What a lazy loser he is.

Military clean ain't nutttin! It's got to be Ooma clean. Or Oma clean. I'm Dutch and German.
My wife is used to it after 44 years. Her idea of clean is a lick and a promise as Oma used to say. My idea is that everything is cleaned, even the inside.

My Dad held Thursday night "stand-to". If we failed inspection, re-inspection went Friday night at 2200. I wouldn't qualify for a slob based reality show, but I've kind of rebelled in my own home, ( except the kitchen and bathroom). I raise dairy goats, make cheese and raise egg/meat chickens, so the appropriate handling facilities all meet USDA and MDA sanitation and inspection requirements. I also do voluntary swabs, with lab sanitation certification.

In the Air Force we had MTT where we had to dust down all furniture and clean bathrooms every Wed and when ever I go into a dusty office or business, my first thought is, "Yuck, don't these ppl have MTT?"

Not exactly to that high standard, but if my wife leaves the house I will Field Day something in my house. If I ever tried to clean while my wife was in the house, I'd probably end up divorced because civilian clean and Marine Corps clean are vastly different. On my last couple move out inspections, I was wearing plastic bags on my feet and using baby wipes to clean baseboards.

YAAASSS. Since being in the Navy, I can't leave my home without the bed made! When I get up and before I head to the well...head, I make the bed. Everday when it comes to be 0730, I feel like cleaning for an hour then work, lol.

I need some Simple Green and Fabuloso!!

I grew up with a DS father. Failed Saturday morning inspections, due to my bed making lack of skills. I would have to un- make it, and move it out of the bedroom into the Rec room. My mum would eventually make my bed.
Otherwise I was clean.
My father would say ‘When you pay the bills you can clean or not clean.’
Laters later I have a house keeper- she earns her pay... I take a q-tip to every thing (including the textured walls)
When I worked in a restaurant- I was loved by owners/hated by staff due to my cleaning standards.
“Guess what we didn’t clean while you were at drill?”
I noticed.... point out everything with naked eye of items they didn’t clean to standards.
I’m a VERY clean and organized person. But I still can’t master the bed making skills. But I love my ironed sheets my housekeeper does.
(She was able to pay for Grad school on her pay... I will need a new housekeeper soon)

To this day (35 ) years retired Reserves I still have all my shoes dress right dress either in the closet or beside the bed,,,,, old habits die hard .

Sort of... But we definitely had a system that spread the load according to capability that kept the house ship shape and orderly. Once a quarter it was a full military style field day.

Well here is Your Brasso, something I used a lot before going into the service as a Cadet at Bordentown military institute, in Bordentown, NJ. Used mostly on the brass on our uniforms and keep them looking good. I do still clean up all over the place each and every day it seems. some old habits are hard to break. I like things to be neat and clean.

I grew up in a military family. Mom and dad provide less and less help as we got older. by the end of 6th grade it was all on us. Dad did a quick visual inspection 4 paces into the room just before we left for school or were leaving the house for liberty (yes, we called it liberty). Neat and tidy appearance, beds made, clothes folded and put away or in the dirty clothes hamper, toys put away and an orderly desk meant no formal room inspection Friday night.

Formal inspection was Friday night at 2200; white glove and scraping nooks, corners and crannies for grime with a toothpick, opening anything that might hold "contraband." No liberty until we passed inspection. Curfew was 2400. I made the mistake of failing the normal visual inspection once. I didn't make it out the door until Sunday about 1400. I never failed the quick visual inspection again

I did the quick visual inspection with my kids before they left for school or liberty. I never did the formal white glove and toothpick inspection. If they failed the visual inspection on a school day, curfew was one hour earlier for each failed inspection for two weeks. If they failed it on a weekend, I'd reinspect in an hour.
