I&#39;m curious as to if being in the IRR counts as still being a reservist for tax purposes. If anyone has an idea, please let me know. Either way you still reserve until you get your discharge papers SGT Eric Davis Thu, 27 Dec 2018 15:29:31 -0500 2018-12-27T15:29:31-05:00 Response by SP5 Peter Keane made Dec 27 at 2018 4:17 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/does-being-in-the-irr-count-as-still-being-a-reservist-for-tax-purposes?n=4239283&urlhash=4239283 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Where on the 1040 does being a reservist get entered ? If you were paid, you report. TurboTax asks questions that are moot on a tax return. Are you getting any active duty for training to accumulate points towards retirement? Usually about two weeks a year. As long as you are in the irr. You accumulate something like 15 retirement points per year while in the irr but you receive no pay. Tax software will ask you if you are in the army which will signal the software to give you the military pay questions. If you didn’t receive any pay, you won’t have a 1040 to enter so it won’t really “do any thing” for you. I’m not a tax professional though so you may still want to talk to a tax professional.
