Does completing AIT give promotion points towards the military education section of the promoting status?

PFC,

You are ranked/rated for promotion against junior enlisted from your own MOS. If you all went to 14E AIT, what would the promotion points be for? In short, no.

AIT is the final step of earning your place in the army... It's the minimum. Your military education is the extra stuff you do.

No, but it will be on your JST and can be converted into college credits. Which equals to promotion points!

Yeah man, From E-1 to E4, promotion is automatic and you will usually get then until E4 unless you mess up, you also will not be able to access any type of furthering education until you are E4 and ready for DLC.

That said, that should not stop you from learning from E5 and above on what you can do now in order to get ahead of your peers and get you ready for the next step, AGAIN you aren't going to be able to access any type of NCO level training or classes being fresh from AIT, but you can use Google to your advantage and learn acynoms, start studying the NCO Creed and other things that will help your command look at your record and write "Promote Before Peers", you may not get Promotion Points from finishing AIT and BCT, but that doesn't mean you can't start furthering your Military Mindset in your first year.

Yes and no. Technically you can’t use anything from AIT for promotions points but you can have that training converted to college credits and use that.

The single biggest point category for E5 promotion is Military Training. APFT and Marksmanship give up to 160 points each (with deployment time in there on top of it for a max of 340). Hell, Ranger School OR getting through Special Forces only gets you 40 points each. Even if you did every possible military school the max is 260. You could have a Medal of Honor, and 20 Silver Stars, the awards section maxes out at 125 points. You could have a PhD, and the max civilian education points is 75 points.

BY FAR!!!!!!!!!!!!! The easiest way to rack up points for E5 is to be able to shoot and be super fit. If you did Ranger School, Sapper School, and Special Forces, that's only 120 points. A 300 record APFT would trump all three of those combined.

Ah, no, not sure if they still offer correspondence course anymore like they did when i was in, this counted as points toward promotion. If you go to school while serving, I took night classes after work, those counted also, other than that it is training, apft, marksmanship, and just starting out of trouble.

With that said. It's best to improve your point range throughout your score sheet. Do well on PT, do well on the range. Military and civilian education. Also, don't forget awards. Have a well-rounded promotion point worksheet. Since you are currently a PFC it is quite impressive that you are working to get two promotions ahead. It's never too early to plan for the future. Saying something is easy to rack up points is relative to the individual. And your points won't mean anything if you bomb the promotion board. Start now by volunteering for Soldier of the month and quarter boards to give you some experience and reduce any nervousness or fear that comes naturally with these things. Speak with your immediate supervisor and get a promotion plan. Do the things that others don't want to do. It pays off in the end. Good luck to you.
