Does Fort Hood have on post storage? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/does-fort-hood-have-on-post-storage

This message relates to a soldier that’s going to Ft. Hood. His home of record is in Ohio and his household goods are still in storage after he got out of the Marine Corps and came to the Army.

Now that he has orders to go to Ft. Hood, the on post housing list is a 6 month wait. He also has a family he is moving. A few questions:

1. Does Ft. Hood have on post storage that he can have his household goods transported to and staged on post all at the Army’s dime while he waits for a house on post?

2. What are his options if he doesn’t want to get a place off base while he waits for housing? Will the Army put his family on a hotel until then?

3. Is it possible to have transportation delay his household goods move until he secures his house on post, and then they ship his stuff out?

Thank you for all answers! You should be able to call information for that answer. For the life of me, I spent years there and never heard if there was or wasn't.
2) His options are limited. They might be willing to put him in the billets, but short of that, he will have to find a place for which his BAH will pay. As far as his family, the second option is the only option.
3) I'm almost certain you can delay delivery of household goods. On his orders, there should be a contact number for household goods, and they should be able to work that out with him. I was able to store my HHG there for a year since I had deployment orders. No. They only have a POV lot for trailers, boats, and sometimes cars. It also costs and the cost have been going up every year or every other year.
2. It depends. Some units are understanding and allow theSoldier to live off post with the understanding that he or she is responsible for getting to and from work on time regardless of the situation. Most PVT through SPC sometimes can't afford housing in decent areas. So they mandate they live on post.
3. Yes, but only for a certain amount of time. He would have to read the transportation company policy or talk to a transportation specialist. I was there for 8yrs btw.
