The point of this is to make sure folks commissioned without a BA actually finish it.<br /><br />Unless something has changed in the last few years, a master's is not required to make Major.Response by LTC Private RallyPoint Member made Dec 31 at 2017 1:41 AM2017-12-31T01:41:19-05:002017-12-31T01:41:19-05:00LTC Private RallyPoint Member3212777<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>A masters degree is not required to make any officer rank in the Army that I know of.Response by LTC Private RallyPoint Member made Dec 31 at 2017 1:42 AM2017-12-31T01:42:52-05:002017-12-31T01:42:52-05:00LTC Private RallyPoint Member3212787<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Back in 1996, I was commissioned at a second lieutenant. Others just had to have 90 units completed to be commissioned provisionally. I know a first lieutenant who was made to resign his Commission because he still had completed his college degree by 2004. He was a good military police platoon leader but he didn't have the educational requirement of a bachelor's degree.Response by LTC Private RallyPoint Member made Dec 31 at 2017 1:50 AM2017-12-31T01:50:26-05:002017-12-31T01:50:26-05:00LTC Private RallyPoint Member3212788<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I don't know if New Mexico Military Academy or Institute is still is able to commission second lieutenants I met one of those officers from that school in my military police officers basic course in 1997.Response by LTC Private RallyPoint Member made Dec 31 at 2017 1:51 AM2017-12-31T01:51:19-05:002017-12-31T01:51:19-05:00LTC Jason Mackay3212800<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Yes, having a bachelor's degree counts for the regulatory and statutory requirement.
