Example would be: Not reloading ever, Air Force is always the secretive branch, Training just different things like that you know that your able to spot vs. most civilians would blindly believe is true. Does it bother you when Hollywood doesn't showcase realism in military based movies? 2015-11-01T14:50:13-05:00 SSgt Paul Esquibel 1080898

Just curious if people are sticklers like me when you watch a movie involving any branch of the military and Hollywood takes liberties to enhance the appeal of the movie by not sticking to realism. "Real" costs much more to produce. I think the closest to real was the D Day landing on Saving Private Ryan. I had a hard time on that one. "Real" can also be used properly to reveal the impact of our heroes. Take a look at Taking Chance. Although pretty touching taking a route and burial in inherently patriotic locations, it was a great product. For one who got beaned with beer bottles on the street coming back from 'Nam, it was nice to see folk will shell out some money to see good military stuff. Movies are particularly bad, but so are TV Shows and Video games(unless they made a real, specific attempt to do research). Most of the time I try not to let it bother me, because they obviously don't care and it's not gonna change when the general population doesn't care about realism in their etertainment. Movies are about box office and drama trumps realism every time(unless it's too painful).

I'm also really into Space travel, so movies and such about that which is even worse in some respects(Not having a basic understanding of physics and logistics is pretty common in even the "hard" sci-fi films). If it's a historical movie, one which is based on real events then yes. If it's one that's ment to entertain me then i don't have an issue.
Example being band of brothers and saving private Ryan. Both paid great attention to detail of the military... What we need now is for you to start writing some bullets for your supervisor to use on your EPR. Oh, we also need you to run over to finance, they are trying to work out how to do your special duty pay because technically you weren't deployed but you were also in a combat situation so they're trying to work out whether your next LES is too much, too little or just right. The commander also wants a debrief at 0900 tomorrow, he'd like you to put together a powerpoint presentation for the next CC call to address possible hidden threats in the form of electronics too since we heard these aliens can look like everyday electronics. Umm, what else, oh we also have some new safety forms for you to fill out from all of this. That should about do it."

_

"Colonel Rhodes is it true that Mister Tony Stark was the direct cause of the destruction of one of our new F22 Raptors and the near death of the pilot of the aircraft?"

"Um, yes sir it is."

"Okay, well here's the deal, since you are Stark's liaison and are directly associated with him we are putting you in for administrative action. As of right now you are facing a Courts Martial for conduct unbecoming an officer for your failure to properly inform senior leadership of fact that it was him responsible for the costly and dangerous incident that occurred. It is also to our understanding that you directly instigated an extremely dangerous situation yourself by adorning yourself in one of his armored war suits and getting into an altercation with him involving the usage of the suits weaponry at his birthday party with numerous innocent civilian bystanders present. These Security Forces gentlemen here will be escorting you into their custody now."

_

I generally try to overlook the mistakes that movies make as I understand that they can't be perfect.
