When I read your question I thought I was going to be reading about a youth who had been in trouble and had a difficult family life. This not the case. He could well have had a PTSD event but I don't think you can connect the fact that he received 18 years for shooting at police to the event of his brother's death via a single driver single car accident. Then the PTSD coupled with the military's failure to give him proper treatment or involuntary commitment until he improved combined to undo this once-good soldier.

This is a failure of the Army and the VA to do their jobs to help a soldier crippled by war.
