Does my IRR time play a role in higher tenure gate limits, or only for pay purposes?

Ooo, I’m interested in knowing as well. Spent 5 years IRR as a chaplain candidate. It does count towards pay (paid with 10 years, SELRES 5 and IRR 5) and you CAN accumulate retirement points, even for a “good year” in the Reserves. But toward high year tenure...I don’t know.

I don't believe IRR time counts for anything. I believe it essentially puts a pause button on everything in your military career (even in the active reserves) until you come off IRR status.

It counts toward your HYT in the Coast Guard. And Air Force it counts towards the 33 year max. Not sure about HYT in Air Force. Dont know about the other services.
