Does RallyPoint remove posts made by users?

I posted something about the Valor Clinic Foundation, which helps homeless veterans in our region. The post was well received, voted up, responded to, and I thought worthy of this site.

I cannot find the post anywhere. I search my discussions, searched using the search tool, clicked on my notifications that linked to the post, and nothing is working.

Did someone remove it? Flag it?

Did the post break a rule of some sort??

I have never heard of posts being removed. I have seen posts get combined though as they were similar.

Yes, some higher-level RallyPoint administrators do have the ability to remove posts. They will generally only do this if the post is not in line with the RallyPoint Community Standards listed here:

If someone made a similar post earlier, then the two would have been joined into one. This happened to me once and you don't receive any notification of it happening.

I hope that once they get to regional groups/calendar working (which I have been told is in the works...one day), they will remove the ridiculous rule about not posting community/local events.

It seems like there is neither rhyme nor reason in removing the posts. Not even a courtesy to notify the authors or explain "why." I'll check back in 6 months to see if it still is a "private venture," sort of "we do not have to explain ourselves to anyone. "

I've suggested many times that when RP deletes posts, that they leave a placeholder showing the deletion [which would definitely reveal how much content RP DOES delete] and also show enough respect to PM the person whose message they deleted with the reason for the deletion.

Even FACEBOOK has enough courtesy to tell you that they removed one of your posts and why. I'd be happy with that much. So far, these suggestions have fallen on deaf ears.

Cpl Anthony Pearson CW4 Private RallyPoint Member there are lots of frustrating and recurring problems on here but they definitely don't fall on deaf ears. Since I joined RallyPoint, it has become almost unrecognizable from the original product (and I am not one of the original members). Change comes slow with 750,000 + members suggesting that the direction be changed. The big issues with closing threads isn't censorship as much as trying to give credit for the discussion to the member that started the topic first. This happens A LOT when members make it a habit of just recycling the trending/breaking news from other media sites that shall remain nameless. It is almost impossible to have a great discussion on a topic that is being discussed in 3 separate locations. If the topics are essentially identical ('check this out', 'what do you think about this') they should be merged. If the identical news topic is posted in different ways ('what will this bombing effect have on the Muslim community', 'how do we spend money on this bombing campaign when our own veterans are homeless') then both should be left open. Member admins are only human and we make mistakes. Please feel free to contact the help desk and member/admin actions can easily be reviewed and overridden if done in error.

Cpl Anthony Pearson Oh, you too have posts vanish? Some of mine vanish after receiving some upvotes w/o fanfare or a comment.. Are the Administrators acting anonymously, or just negligent by not commenting when they delete a post?

I've had a couple of posts removed because I tweeked the nose of an advertiser. It was meant as good natured humor, but I kind of expected it when I did it.

Yes, some of mine did indeed disappear, I guess the site admin had it removed. It doesn't bother me, it's their site, I just participate in it.
