Just came off active duty and looking to get into a PSYOP unit in reserves but cannot find solid information as to whether or not I'd get to do "sexy hooah" things with Reserve PSYOP. Any info is appreciated, thank you!

I have a psyop unit here that is ABN! so, yes, you can do sexy hooah things in the reserve too. Where do you want to drill/ where are you going after you get off AD?

I worked in a remote Psychological Operations and we were part of the SOC at Bragg. We supported all Spec Ops in our TOR and assisted sister concerns as well. I am not too sure what specifically you are seeking to know, so please elaborate, if possible. Thanks.

Sir I would like to go to Airborne, SERE, language training, etc and wasn’t sure if Reserve PSYOP did the kind of things that allowed me to do that.

Reserve Psyop does all those things the AC does. I did language training and I was already Airborne. Why do you feel you can't get the qualifiers you are aching to earn?

SGT Darren Howell, these is nothing you can't do in the RC PSYCHOLOGICAL OPERATIONS COMMAND. This is a lack of knowledge issue, which appears to have been fed to you. Like I said, I served with SOC and the CAPOC in remote outfits and got all I requested, to include Civil Affairs.

I second SFC Carroll. For the most part, no. Reserve mission is much different. Still an immense amount of opportunity if you are profitable (airborne, deployments under your belt, and languages). You can get pulled for many deployments if you’re needed. Your best bet is to stay high speed and go to DLI for a Tier IV language if you haven’t already (I’ll be going for Chinese Mandarin).

Hell yes, I want missions! I scored 117 on DLAB prior to getting out so if there are opportunities for someone who wants them I’m in!

SGT Darren Howell That’s what I’m talking about! Reservists are not required to learn a language and you’d be surprised how many pass that opportunity up. I left active last year (I was a 68D) and just transferred into a PSYOP unit. You will stand out without a doubt, take advantage of all the unused slots for schools.
