Take a gander at Peter Fever's article if you haven't read the new National Military Strategy. He brings up some good points. Is the National Security Strategy truly sound if it is hindered by a budget that puts significant boundaries on it? If your strategy is constrained, is it the strategy that you want or thet strategy that you can get?

In my humble opinion it won't matter if the strategy meets our needs as long as we have a congress that wants to control the entire war effort.

This is interesting... We have had no new National Security Strategy since 2011, and now as General Dempsey steps down, he tells us to "prepare for a long war".... It is like he is saying "good luck with that"...
