Does the Army cover my family staying in a hotel while awaiting my house to be move-in ready at my new duty station? If so, do I use my GTC?

So the movers are packing up our house in the 19th of June, I sign out on PCS leave the 20th and we have a tentative closing date on our house off post of our new duty station between June 21st-25th. With all that being said, does the army cover my wife and baby to stay in a hotel for a few days before my house is move in ready? And if so, do I use my Government Travel Card?

My assumption is that hotel costs will not be paid for your wife and child. I’m sure there are a few 1SG’s and PSG’s who would have a more formal answer, but I’m thinking you are going to be out of luck on that score.

Yes, it is part of your PCS, call the Army hotel at the post you are PCSing and make a reservation for you and your family. You can pay for the hotel with your government card, just get receipts for all expenses.

Yes, you can stay in the TLF or (if no availability) a hotel. I did both. One time I lived in TLF for nearly 2 months. I think the gov pays for like 2 weeks or so.

On Guam the military are placed in one of the hotels beach side, like the Hilton, while waiting to be placed in military housing, most just get housing off base. But, you have the beach to tend too. Alot of service men don't like the salt air. Lol

Or just do like we are and continue or start BAH payments at your next assignme t and stay in an off post rental.

You are covered for up to 10 days TLE. So you are good for whatever accommodations you will need within that time frame. Plus they have per day rentals (AirB&B's) that should be available.

Yes you get a limited amount of TLE. If you exceed that you will end up paying back the extra to your GTC. Also, that 10 days of TLE is for the front side and the backside combined. That means if you stay in a hotel 7 days prior to leaving you get three more days of lodging once you arrive at your next duty station. There are other caveats, rules, and exceptions based on whether you're OCONUS or CONUS as well

SGT Private RallyPoint Member Don't Know about Army, I Do Know the Navy Put Me up in the Columbia Hotel in London for 2 Months while I awaited Quarters and for 1 Month before I shipped Out.
