So, someone keeps telling me I can have the military move my stuff free of charge once a year like a PCS move. I have never heard of this. I am planning to PCS to Korea in January but thought maybe to move my family back to Colorado early so we can buy a house. Has anyone ever heard of this?

Government paid moves are always a consequence of another Government action. The most familiar is a PCS move. The Government does pay for a move from off base housing to on base housing, but usually not the other way (on base to off base). It’s highly unlikely the Government would pay for a move between two off base locations. No matter why the move happens the cost of the Government move must be supported with a fund citation on orders. There’s a DoD software system set up to manage Government moves. Also a web site with lots of information. HTTPS//:move.milLt Col Jim CoeSat, 11 Sep 2021 10:33:18 -04002021-09-11T10:33:18-04:00Response by SGT Robert Wager made Sep 11 at 2021 1:17 PM

Good advice by all, but keep in mind one per PCS and fiscal year.

Caveat is that if you did not move or the Government didn't move you on current orders, then yes you still have your entitlement. If you used it, then you have to be on orders.

There are some hardship moves , but those require HRC approval.SSG Keith CashionSat, 11 Sep 2021 15:45:12 -04002021-09-11T15:45:12-04:002021-09-10T22:04:52-04:00
