Does the Army publish a list of banned motorcycle clubs or is that at the discretion of each Post?

Pretty sure there is no list made by the Army but for example a few supposed Vagos MC members were military and putting symbols and signs all over their PLT CP and that got shut down quick. Most post don't allow you to rep your colors probably not to upset certain groups.

I've never seen an official list. A partial list could be surmised from other rules and regulations though. Soldiers cannot be part of any organization deemed criminal or when membership therein would bring discredit upon the service, nation, or uniform. That likely narrows down some. If SAMCRO were real, for example, soldiers could not be members.

I ride. Some posts have paid attention to this and some haven't. It's a problem that non-riders don't understand. Some posts have banned certain MCs, but most have not. Bottom line is that if it's a 1%'er club, it's a no-go. 1%'ers are criminally affiliated gangs...not motorcycle clubs. Either they are currently active in criminal activity or their past is rife with it. Association with one of these entities is anathema to service. Honestly though, they are the devil you know. One of the biggest problems, and especially so for new riders, is the rise of social MC's. These mostly well intentioned riders group together, make a creed and even have colors made. Usually they have no idea what colors own the areas surrounding them and are inviting a good, old fashioned ass beating from groups like the Banditos, Marauders, Hell's Angels, Jesters, Men of Steel or any other 1%'er group that sees them as a rival. I see a lot of colors on the road now days who are not 1%'ers or HOG members. Dangerous ground. a 1%'er MC will usually leave the lone rider alone unless they disrespect them on the road (not giving right of way, threatening them through maneuver, wearing unfavored colors or clothing)...not so with a MC that stands up and is in their turf.

Then there are certain "clubs," while not banned by the military per say, it's a good idea to avoid them.

It sounds like the bottom line is besides the MCs obviously off limits due to current regulations and being categorized as extremist criminal or a 1% club there is no continuity.

As of now SMs can join an MC at one post, then PCS and find themselves riding with a group who puts them in violation of Post policy.

I can say right now that I will never be a member of a club or group that is with a CoC. The lead club is always a 1% and they expect the other of the CoC to wear a support patch. I will not. I am a member of the Blue Knights and the VFW motorcycle group and they don't support any CoC's. Another safe club is the Green Knights MMC. Now, I did hear that some AL riders groups are members of a CoC and some are not. You would have to check the one you are joining. If it is a member of a CoC, do not join. You could get in trouble.....

I don't want to tell you what us your business, but the Green Knights, the CVMA, the SFMC (If you are elite), and VMC are all great clubs/org.
There are also the Infidels, AVMC and MVMC which I do not have first hand knowledge of, but they are out there as well. They may be a better place for you to start.

If you are just looking for people to ride with, I found the Patriot Guard riders was a good place to start. I also joined the VFW MG, (don't ever call it a club or they go bananas) American Legion. If you are active duty, you can always join one of the Veterans Groups, and then you will find other riders in the area and you will figure out quickly which clubs are good, and which ones are not.

Stay away from three piece patch clubs, look for a real Motorcycle Club that's about riding and having a good time. I used to be a member of the BMW Motorcycle Club of Hampton Roads when I was stationed in VA even though I didn't ride a BMW. That was a family oriented club that was all about riding bikes, having BBQs, and doing charity and volunteer work, instead of pretending to be bad asses living by mad up rules.

Officially as Army reg or policy? No. Some posts have blacklists for certain clubs, but that's usually a "no fly on post" list. But contrary to popular belief, 1%er clubs are NOT banned to servicemembers. However, it does pose a threat to your security clearance if you have one. That being said, it would be advisable to contact your PMO or Phys Sec office on post to ask them which colors are banned from post.

Also, as a side note: despite what you have been led to believe, not all 1% clubs are outlaws or criminal organizations. Some of them wear a diamond and have NEVER been part of, or associated with, criminal activity. But to play devil's advocate, most of them have and/or are known for it.

On the Navy side, the MWR office I think kept a list as well as the base Motorcycle Safety Officer. Not sure what are Army equivalents.

When I was active duty, there was a reg I read that stated something on the order that no military member can be a part of any organization that would be in any conflict with their oath. Might be where conscientious objector comes from.
