does the army take GED or adult ed diploma?

I am in split ops, and because of the things that has been happening to me (not very lucky in the family department) i am not able to graduate with a regular highschool diploma... I cant do continuation school either bc i wont graduate in time for ait... it is my only and last resort... if not, what is going to happen to me?

Talk to your recruiter. They can probably work with you to push your AIT dates in order for you to complete your high school degree during summer school. On a side note, don't allow a temporary situation to destroy your long-term potential. I've seen too often where people allow family/spouses/friends to influence them in a way that destroys their future in the military (and their education, career, everything else).

The short answer is yes, you can join with a GED. The qualification to that is that recruiting is restricted to how many GED's they are allowed to accept and it requires a higher ASVAB score. However, you are already enlisted and the Army has already invested money in sending you to boot camp. You need to sit down with your unit admin and chain of command and let them find out if a GED is an option for you.

I'm sorry to hear that. You can just take the GED and provide your recruiter with the copy once recieved. It shouldnt be a issue as long as you have a diploma stating you meet the criteria. If for some reason you can’t make the time allotted you can always has that out with the recruiter, they are your best source for all the administrative issues. Trust them and work with them make sure you explain this to him or her as well.

Everyone will say talk to a recruiter.

When I enlisted GED was not an option. I had to get 25 year old HS transcripts even though I have a Masters Degree. The Army has many strange ways to many different paths and all to the same destination. In 2011 the answer would have been no. Recently (2019 OCT) I was writing acceptance memos for new OCS candidates (Reserves) with ASVAB scores below 110. So today, your chances are pretty good.

You are already "IN". Someone would have to go to a lot of trouble to push you out.

*** Silly technicality. In 2011 a GED could not enlist, but if the same person had a 4 year degree they could be an Officer.

Yes, you can join with a GED. You have to make a 50 or higher on the ASVAB. Don’t stop going to drill — you can try talking with you recruiter about getting your AIT date pushed back.

Yes definitely! I joined with a HISET which is practically the same thing as a GED. I actually start6the process before I got my HISET. Just couldn't go to meps till I had the certificate in hand.
