You do have Special Operations like pararescue jumpers, Navy Seals and Marine Special Forces. They all work together but they are separate. Be proud that you are special operations under psychological operations. While there may be Special Forces Soldiers (SF, also commonly Green Berets) in SOF Units, The SOF units may not have the skill sets SF Units do; they also do not perform similar missions. SF units traditionally have been valued more for Training Indigenous Forces, Foreign Internal Defense, and Unconventional Warfare Roles. SOF provide skills to both Conventional and Unconventional Forces. Those skill sets are Information Missions, Civil Military Liaison Support, and Preservation of Cultural/Historical aspects in theaters where the Armed Forces Operate. The common terms associated with SOF units are Civil Affairs (CA) and Psychological Operations (PO).

The U.S. Marine Corps also has CA and PO units in their table of organization, and early on in the GWOT the U.S. Navy had personnel go through the School House for training in Civil Affairs to augment the mission as the Army discovered it did not have enough Soldiers to fulfill the role with the mission needs. A rayon adjust-
ing ribbon is threaded through the binding. The beret is equipped with a stiffener on the left front and has two eyelets with an eyelet protector on the right side. Except for color, all classes of berets are the same.
d. How worn. The beret is worn so that the headband (edge binding) is straight across the forehead, 1 inch above the eyebrows. The flash is positioned over the left eye, and the excess materials is draped over to the right ear, extending to at least the top of the ear, and no lower than the middle of the ear. Personnel will cut off the ends of the adjusting ribbon and secure the ribbon knot inside the edge binding at the back of the beret. When worn properly, the beret is formed to the shape of the head; therefore, Soldiers may not wear hairstyles that cause distortion of the intended shape of the beret. Paragraph 19–3c addresses wearing headgear insignia. Figure 18–2 shows wear of the beret.
