The media should report the news (which would be nice if it was accurate and honest), but they don't have to give the shooter any extra attention. The worst example of that was when Rolling Stone put Dzhokhar Tsarnaev on its cover. It would be worthwhile to not publish names and photos of these killers and see how that affects future mass shootings. Don't mention their names, etc, keep them from becoming public figures. That is what these wack jobs are looking for fame, no matter what it cost others. But the media is so quick to put them on tv talk about them and every detail. Now putting them on covers of magazines and things, that's not necessary.

The media doesn't make anyone a martyr - people who are like minded do that on their own. I haven't seen much of the media making them into victims but in the comments of the articles I see a LOT of people making them out to be victims. "We need to address bullying." "Maybe if people were nicer to the shooter..."

I see everyone else making them into the victim and blaming their victims. I think bullying is too broadly used. If someone tells you "I don't like you" that's not bullying. Bullying is being constantly harassed either physically or verbally by someone else. Some of these shooters were never bullied. The Texas shooter wasn't. Columbine- they weren't outcasts. They were just plain crazy. They wanted to be like Timothy McVeigh and planned to blow up the school. That's 1999 before social media.

Parents need to teach their kids how to handle stress. THAT is one problem. People can't handle any stress in their lives anymore. Life sucks and it's not fair sometimes. The sooner people realize that the better off they might be and don't go on a rampage when they get dumped or told off in front of people or even picked on. I got picked on - I didn't ever think to shoot anyone. I would have liked to punch a couple people in the face in high school...but never kill anyone. The sooner I realized how meaningless they were to my life, the easier it was to ignore them.

The media reports what people want to hear. Fact. Society in general wants the bad and the chaos. Disagree or not - but that's fact. Humans always enjoy chaos and disruption. The media reports more on that because it gets more likes and shares - and before that it sold papers. Stories about puppies and kitties don't get traction. Sad but true.

So no the media does not have blood on its hands. They also need to limit the amount of coverage of a shooting. 3 and a half months after Parkland the MSM is still dredging up emotional stories to get ratings. If they stick to the 5 W's and How of journalism and keep emotion out of the reporting, there will be fewer copycat killers. To report information that includes the 5Ws (who, what, when, where, and why). Professional objective media understands this and the good ones report the facts, mention the name one, and then move on from it only to report law enforcement updates as necessary.
The awful, partisan media are those that use the incident to push an agenda; whether its: a) left wing media highlighting need for gun control or b) right wing media highlighting need for more guns in public spaces. So as much as your vitriol about media having Elizabeth Warren, Maura Healey, Chuck Schumer, and Hillary Clinton pulling the strings; don't be a fool by thinking there aren't Conservative politicians and leaders doing the same thing.
Partisan media sources (network, Sirius Radio, and internet) are partially to blame for over reporting in order to obtain ratings and make sponsors happy. But lets not insinuate that these mass shooters get their motivation solely from watching news reports of other shooters. That's like saying a bank robber found his motivation from watching reports of bank robberies.

Don't over simplify your pro-gun logic. Don't trust a politician who takes money from lobbyists or a media mogul who gives money and positive air time to a political party or politician.
