There is a workout plan for those who wish to attend on the army website. I read it and it looks like a decent prep plan to get started. I’d like to know from those who’ve gone to ranger school. If this program actually works to get soldiers prepared to go. If not does anyone else know any other program or have helpful tips about physically preparing for ranger school in general?Does the official Army Workout Plan work?2020-07-10T19:48:55-04:00SGT Private RallyPoint Member6089977<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I am physical preparing myself to go to ranger school by the end of this year. I would also suggest you be at a point where you have been carrying a heavy ruck 50-75 pounds - at a strolling pace for at least two hours straight every week, for six months; at that point your tendons, ligaments and connective tissue will be strong enough to endure the muscle wasting you will experience. Muscle is nothing in Ranger School. All your fat and muscle will be gone halfway through. You need long term lean strengthResponse by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Jul 10 at 2020 8:54 PM2020-07-10T20:54:44-04:002020-07-10T20:54:44-04:00CSM Michael Chavaree6090815<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Not sure, I didnt train up. I would focus on stamina for sure and carrying loads. Dont over train. That can and will happen if you go too hard.Response by CSM Michael Chavaree made Jul 11 at 2020 4:56 AM2020-07-11T04:56:12-04:002020-07-11T04:56:12-04:00CPT Private RallyPoint Member6091129<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>If you overtrain, you're less likely to make gains and more likely to injury yourself. The plan is a decent base, but we're all individuals. Your plan should be focused on passing all the RAP week events and being able to carry a ruck for extended periods. After RAP week, there are no other formal physical assessments, you just have to be able to haul a heavy pack through the sand, mountains, and swamps.Response by CPT Private RallyPoint Member made Jul 11 at 2020 7:07 AM2020-07-11T07:07:47-04:002020-07-11T07:07:47-04:001SG Private RallyPoint Member6091372<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>It does work, or they wouldn't put it up there. There are also a bunch of other plans out there that either cater directly to Ranger School, or a ruck based selection that would work.<br />I recommend training for 2 months on whatever plan you pick, then get to your posts Small Unit Ranger Tactics (SURT). Those that go to SURT have a much higher chance of getting through Benning, which increases your chances of graduating becasue thats where most people fail out. The stats of what people fail is also on the website.Response by 1SG Private RallyPoint Member made Jul 11 at 2020 9:15 AM2020-07-11T09:15:13-04:002020-07-11T09:15:13-04:00SFC Private RallyPoint Member6091450<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Any workout plan will work as long as you are committed to it and grind hard to the fullest. Workout plans work based upon the effort a person put into it. So results will depend on your effort.Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Jul 11 at 2020 10:00 AM2020-07-11T10:00:16-04:002020-07-11T10:00:16-04:002020-07-10T19:48:55-04:00
