Does the U.S. Military issue a knife with that hole in the blade as shown in the new Expert Soldier Badge?

I know the Marine Corps K-Bar did not have a hole, and as an Intell guy I only remember the Russian knife which could be a wire cutter with the scabbard as one part of the cutter.

SSgt GG-15 RET Jim Lint Yes, did when I was in, Bayonet. The hole is so the wire cutter on scabbard can be utilized.

Yes the M9 bayonet has a hole so you can link it to the scabbard and use it as a wire cutter. It does pretty well in a pinch.

Good addition to the new military knife, in my days we used Bangalor tubes to cut through barbed wire. Not as quite but did the job.

I still have my dad's WWII issue USN pilot's survival knife. It has a hole, but it is so poorly done, I can't believe it was drilled in by the factory.

I remember there being one in the late 80s that replaced the original bayonet. It was for the M16a2. I don't remember the nomenclature for it. Getting old sucks.

At one time the rifle bayonet (M9?) had a hole in the blade with a lug in the sheath, it was suppose to be able to cut wire- yeah right- in a blue moon.
