Does time spent as Guard Technician count towards AD? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/does-time-spent-as-guard-technician-count-towards-ad <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I am just a regular M-Day soldier in the TXARNG, currently working as a DoD contractor for the Air Force. Since graduating AIT I regretted not going active duty and I have wanted to find a way to be full-time in the Guard. I understand that the AGR program is pretty much locked to E4-promotable and above so that is not in my sights at all yet. So the technician program sounds like the next best thing. One thing that I was wondering is does any time spent in this type of position count as active duty since it is Title 32? Or does it strictly count as civil service? Being a tech is civilian, not military. Title 32 means you have to be a member of the national guard to keep your job SFC Private RallyPoint Member Sat, 21 Jul 2018 19:16:57 -0400 2018-07-21T19:16:57-04:00 Response by Capt Gregory Prickett made Jul 21 at 2018 7:17 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/does-time-spent-as-guard-technician-count-towards-ad?n=3813831&urlhash=3813831 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>None of your technician time counts as active duty. If you want to be active, you need to either go RA or AGR. Only the days you drill. You’re talking about a dual status tech. They are trying to do away with those so the techs will no longer have to serve in the Guard to keep their position. It is civil service. Your time on SAD, state active duty, does not count for fed retirement. IDK who told you that was for E4p but its not. My unit has a PV2 that got picked up for it.<br />Check the Army recruiting website, given your rank (and age) you may be able to go active, either as your MOS or re-class.
