Does your state give driver licenses to just anybody who wants one?

I haven't flown in a while, but have heard that my California drivers license is not accepted for ID to board a flight unless I have a special super-duper license. Thus, I will have to carry my U.S. passport for identification purposes even though we are not exiting or reentering the U.S. Why? (I hear you cry) The problem stems from the fact that California gives drivers licenses to anyone who asks (that way illegals can vote for Democrats to maintain their one-party domination of the state). I'm curious how many other state's drivers licenses are like California's...

CPT Jack Durish Virginia is now issuing "privilege cards", e.g., drivers licenses for the undocumented. Virginia went the Real ID route last year. Don't know if the card issued will allow voter registration. I hope not.

Connecticut is the same way. The state's ID card/DL does not meet the features for federal identification, hence why they charge more for the super-duper one - they have to add features to make it federal compliant.
Airports have to follow FAA rules, not state ones so they need to see federal-compliant identification.
I believe Missouri had the issue as well.

Florida you have to have Birth Certificate, Military ID or Pass Port to prove your a citizen. I know the Left here has been trying to stop that so now there is a special Mark on your DL to prove its real and you have shown these documents

In Idaho, to get the super star drivers license, a male needs to bring in the required documents (birth cert, ssn card, etc.). The female, if single, needs to bring in the same. As for a married female, they need to bring in addition to the already mentioned their marriage license. If they have been divorced, they need to bring in everything listed AND their divorce decree. And if they have been divorced and remarried....all of the previous listed to include their NEW marriage license. Idaho is not giving the new star cards away. Thank God for my military ID.

Tennessee is part of the "Real ID" initiative. There is mark on my DL to prove I've shown a birth certificate, passport, and/or military ID.

You do not need to apply for a Georgia license unless you become a resident of Georgia.
If you become a resident, you must meet the requirements for Identity, Citizenship, and Residency. If you are driving in Georgia with a license issued by a driver's licensing authority of a foreign country, a law enforcement officer may ask for your passport or visa to verify the validity of your driver's license.
Georgia complies with the Real ID program.
Passed by Congress in 2005, the REAL ID Act enacted the 9/11 Commission's recommendation that the Federal Government “set standards for the issuance of sources of identification, such as driver's licenses.” The Act established minimum security standards for state-issued driver's licenses and identification cards and prohibits Federal agencies from accepting for official purposes licenses and identification cards from states that do not meet these standards. These purposes are:
Accessing Federal facilities
Boarding federally regulated commercial aircraft.
Entering nuclear power plants
DDS began issuing these licenses in 2010 under our SAFFE DL (Secure Automated Fast Friendly Easier Driver’s License) Program

You are out of luck with a California DL. If you have a DOD Military ID Card (which includes Dependents and Retired Service members), you don't need a "Real ID" compliant drivers license to fly. It even says the very same on the TSA website. Even though my Florida DL is "Real ID" compliant, I show my Retired ID card to TSA when I fly and no Officer has ever asked for alternate ID.

Washington had the same problem of not being accepted. Ironically, one of the reasons was its benefit for active duty military. One of the requirements to meet the standards for the REAL ID is that all IDs must have an expiration date. At the time I received my previous ID from Washington state, the expiration date just said "MILITARY" and it was good till I was no longer active duty. I kept that ID 12 years and only recently got a new one to update my address after moving back.

Alabama insists that DLs have a special identifier (a star in the upper left hand corner) to vouch for you. Not having it will keep you from flying without other ID, even domestically. Like all of the other verifiable information on the license that I've had forever isn't enough.

Minnesota was the same, when you renew your license now you have a choice of the same regular license or you can apply for the enhanced license. It's a process, you need several documents to prove who you are, where you live, where you were born, proof of residences (time in state). Which isn't bad except you can't use the same document twice. Once I did all of that it took about 3 months before I received my license.

Texas has a special symbol plus holographic parts of the card. I did not have a problem I used my passport and they had most of my info from my License to carry.

Illinois is pretty picky about that plus you need to show proof of residency (that you live in the state), citizenship, birth certificate, or resident status (i.e Green Card). Chicago acts separately from my understanding as I have heard the city is giving some form of ID to illegals.

If you have a retired military ID that will suffice for traveling anywhere in the US, but if you are going to a foreign country, then you will need your passport.

New Jersey required a birth certificate or naturalization papers for a driver license. However, in the Democrat stronghold of Hudson county, Jersey City AND Hudson County Hall of Records employees were convicted of selling birth certificates.
That enabled illegal aliens to drive, vote, even hold public office. I had to go to the state capital to get a valid birth certificate to obtain Social Security benefits.
