I look at the national through large scale economics. If we do well economically, and I mean this in corporations and people, than I would say we as a nation are doing well.

In terms of economics, we still have much work to do. Socially, we are currently a nation divided.

What is the "right direction".

I am hoping that the country can regain its AAA status financially. I'd like to see less government and more personal responsibility.

That's always a hard question because we're limited to periods where leadership is in power. For now, probably.

Hard to say. This has been a rough couple years for the United States with mass riots being an almost constant thing.

I did believe we were on the right path. Equal opportunity. Equal Rights. Equal Marriage. Not sure where the issues came from, but someone apparently has an issue with that.

I think when you have violence in the inner cities increasing, poverty rate increasing, unemployment rate not reflective of reality, almost zero inflation, almost zero interest rate growth.........there is a serious structural problem in our Economy that needs to be fixed. We need to be lifting everyone economically and providing everyone a safe place to live.......if not then we are failing as a country and eventually will pay for it via loss of liberty. So lets see what the next four years brings and if we can right the listing ship.

It depends on your point of view. If you agree with President Obama that the country needs to give up some of it sovereignty to a global organization which will create peace around the world, then President elect Trump has promised to take us in a different direction. If you are concerned about the economy and your ability to feed, house, and cloth your family, then Trump has promised to take us in the right or at least a more fiscally responsible direction.

As for me, I'm hopeful that we may finally have a government that will be able to pass an actual budget and tackle the issues of public debt, and a bankrupt social security. I'm also very hopeful that a President Trump will appoint Supreme Court Justices who believe in the Constitution, and that he will continue to inflict wounds on politically correct speech.

No. we have not fixed the biggest problems threatening our nation. Terror, urban decay and crime, unemployment and underemployment. Infant mortality, failed healthcare system, hate crimes and groups, racial tension, and wrong priorities. We would save a woodpecker over preventing deaths, crime poverty and corruption in the largest urban centers. Drug use is out of control. Deaths due to opioids overdose are epidemic and we are focused on pipelines, gopher turtles, and all the wrong things. IMHO.

Take the latest voter map by county, overlay the protests (riots), crime rates, murder rates, mass shootings, et al, and draw your own conclusion.

IMHO: No! We, who are conservative by nature, do not have a large presence in those counties that the left won. Yet it is we, the conservatives, that have been targeted by decades of lawmakers trying to "make everything equal". If we wanted everything equal the US would be one large grey city. No, I do not identify Republican. I am registered Independent. I consider myself fiscally conservative, politically conservative and both socially liberal and conservative. The republicans of 100 years ago would fall into this definition. The Republicans today are so far from center they are lost.
