Don't you wish they would bring back the effective Tiger Stripe uniform of the Vietnam War era?

I am one that eventually has to buy the new Operational Camoflage Uniform to replace the rock quarry camo scheme ACU that was approved in 2003. Don't you miss the BDU we wore for over 25 years? Do some of you vets wish we could again wear the Tiger Stripe Uniform that Special Ops and montangards wore during the Vietnam war? It seems each new version is just that much less durable yet costly!

They might have been Special Forces LTC Private RallyPoint Member. I don't recall ever seeing one during my year in Vietnam. I did like the jungle fatigues we wore!

I have heard they are very durable. But yes, the BDU was good

Of course, How Cool. I'm a Romantic Though and grew up watching the News Footage from Vietnam. In some Environments that would be an Ideal Uniform like in French Indo-China.

I have camoflage fatigue. I just can't do any more changes.
Besides, all of our enemies seem to like the desert.

If the get rid of the zippers and most of the Velcro on the OCU I believe it would be a better option, not to mention a possible decrease on the price tag.

Nice picture but inaccurate. Wore these in the field w/o the trinkets. Tiger stripes were okay but they weren't durable on longer missions, stayed wet and had to have pockets added to make them functional in field gear. Standard issue jungle fatigues were a much better field uniform.

Sir, I have heard a lot of people say bring back the BDU but this is the first time I have heard tiger stripes! Personally I like the new uniforms, but I joined with the useless gravel pit pattern.

I managed to lay my hands on a complete set while stationed in DaNang. I would not trade or sell them for anything...then again, I never say never.

Actually, the best uniform I ever wore was the ERDL jungle fatigues that I was issued as TA-50 gear. The BDU was a poor substitute for that uniform, and was the creation of QM types that had no clue what was actually needed in the field. If they wanted a new uniform to replace the OD fatigues, they could have just issued the ERDL's to everyone instead of creating the BDU crap that they went with.

I loved the BDU's. It was a great uniform. When I went in some guys were still switching over from the pickle suit.
