What's next? Quite a lot, and much of it is not going to be very pleasant. This was not a 'normal' election. On the one side: corrupt 'main stream' political parties that have been sucking up to the corporate tit and taking in inordinate amounts of cash for so long they think that it is right and is their main job...take the money and get re-elected, not doing what they are supposed to do and work on legislation which benefits their constituency, the American people. And then there was this guy, one Donald J Trump, an alleged billionaire (although his actual worth is shrouded in secrecy) which basically showed a life of building up one thing, his name, usually at the expense of anyone naive another to actually be taken in by his con-man's spiel and work for him, do business with him, contract to supply equipment or services for him, etc. Invariably 'the Donald' triumphed and all those 'little people' got burned, either by being denied payment, or through bankruptcies which protected the Donald from having to pay his creditors, or through threats, lawsuits, strong-arm tactics, etc. Not speculation here: all verifiable 'fact.' (Facts - something Trumpers don't really care about) When this third rate B.S. Artist and TV 'Reality Show' host decided to parlay his celebrityhood into a run for the presidency, most of us thought it was a joke. Well....the joke is on us, and the punch-line is not going to be long in coming. If you're a fan of the American Nazi Party, the KKK, the new 'alt Right' and other white Supremacists, you will probably be overjoyed. If you are None of the Above and voted for Trump, I for one understand his appeal: basically, he tapped into the angst and frustration of folks left behind by de-Industrialization, globalization, loss of work, jobs, dignity, etc. that nobody, Democrat or Republican was doing anything about - all being so wrapped up in schmoozing with the high rollers and padding their own bank accounts. Bernie Sanders articulated best the real struggles going on in this country and got summarily shafted by the DNC for possibly upsetting the carefully crafted Democratic apple cart. What we need now is to focus on a real political revolution, not this bogus thing that is going on right now where the US of A, the country we all served in the military for - it used to stand for a lot of lofty ideals, you know....like Liberty, Freedom, Justice for All. No longer, compadres. Now you will see this own home-grown demagogue begin an overturning of all the protections most of us have pretty much taken for granted. Expect to see attacks on the Press, the Environment, regulations that have tried to make it harder for the banks and Wall Street to screw people and call it 'Business,' and further pointing the finger of blame for societal ills at folks that don't look like him. His ignorance of History, International relations, philosophy, and just about everything else aside from how to promote himself makes the previous top official White House 'Dumbass' (that fellow whose main claim to fame while at Yale was being a 'C' student and a cheerleader) who famously dodged service in Viet Nam be securing a cozy post as a pilot with the ANG when that was a 'guaranteed Get Out of the War card' and then....oh, gee....didn't actually show up to fulfill that miminmal obligation. (And then, loved to don military paraphernalia and swagger around with his idiotic posing on aircraft carriers and with the troops as if he, not actual war veterans, was some kind of 'Hero.' Those who expect a lot of change will be sorely disappointed. The president-elect made ridiculous statements, even repulsive at times. He was certainly entertaining - as a clown. His conservative stance is overrated. I suggest he will need an immense amount of help (guidance) to maintain an even keel.
We should relax, find out what he really intends to do, then speak to the real issues on the table at the time. Based on his obvious lack of social/political filter the rest of us need to be the mature adults for the next 4 years. (I say 4 years because I truly believe his supporters will become disillusioned - unless they continue to be fooled by comments like the election being rigged, they are all out to get me, change must happen but I have no plan, . . .)
As a registered and commuted republican for more than 40 years, I am very disappointed. On the other hand, keep your situational awareness and be prepared to help when called.

What I would like to see is the formation of a "National Draft" where every able bodied male and female, at reaching their 18th birthday has to register to perform 2 years of service in the military or something like the old Civil Conservation Corps. This could be a federal program or state, but whatever it would be called or whomever administers it, the draftee would be under contract for that period and be subject to a uniform code of conduct.

Perhaps that would help to end at least some of the down spiral unemployment and improve employability of first time job applicants. I would also hope that it would help to change the outlooks of our current batch of "I want", "I want", "I want" millennials. One can only hope, right?

I am hopeful, but time will tell. Trump is first and foremost, a businessman, not a political hack, and I see that as a good thing. How much he will be able to get done as an outsider remains to be seen. It appears that he is surrounding himself with a good team, and from all accounts, more than willing to listen to advise. He is not a demigod, but at the same time, he is not spawn of satan that the Democrats and press have tried to make of him.

Folks, keep in mind this is not the first, and will likely not be the last divisive election we have had. I will go so far as to say that when it comes to nasty bitter rhetoric and possible corruption, it's probably not even in the top five, maybe top 10. We have had bitter elections embroiled in controversy since Thomas Jefferson and John Adams ran against each other. They were friends, and after the election did not even talk directly with each other for many years. The Tilden-Hayes election of 1876 was perhaps the nastiest, dirty trick & corruption filled election in US history. BTW it is also one of five elections where the popular vote winner did not win the electoral vote. Lincoln-Douglas literally tore the nation apart. Let us not forget the 1836 Van Buren-Harrison-White-Webster-Mangum race, Cleveland-Harrison in 1888, Oh and we can not leave out the 1800 Andrew Jackson, John Quincy Adams, William Crawford, and Henry Clay election. The results were so bad it lead directly to the 12th Amendment. I could go on, but the point is, we have survived many more corrupt, more controverial elections that thhis last one, and we will survive this one as well.

I just wish him and his family all the support that they can get from our insiders in Washington D.C. But I also thank President Obama and his family for doing what he could during his eight years of public service as our 44th President. He tried and that's all it should matter. Bottom line is that everyone is getting nervous about what will happen when he does say the oath of the President. It's a very big responsibility for him and for anyone who is President of our Nation. Some People understand this, but some don't. Do I see a problem? Do I think that our Nation is divided? Yes, I think that they will have problems, I know that our Nation is divided and has been for the last 240 years. Can we change that? Yes, How? Trump has been President Elect for 8 days today, he hasn't been confirmed by the Electoral College yet (why we are having so much civil unrest, they think the electoral college will deny Trump the votes (perpetrated and funded by George Soros and company). Trump is putting together his Cabinet, not an easy chore since there are more than a thousand positions to fill and to get it right the 1st time is why he won't be inaugurated until Jan 20, 2017. Trump has many decisions to make and many people to vet and insure they are competent to fill the task given them. I don't know what will change in the government. The relationship between the congress and White House has been broken and is such a low bar to improve on. Potentially the greater change will be within the two parties because neither the Republicans or Democrats won the White House. One thing is clear, Donald Trump or Bernie Sanders is neither of those. Both of these candidates ran on a platform that appealed to the middle class. I see this election as a rejection of the political elites and wall street giants. If both parties do a serious analysis and change based on their findings we will see a transformation not seen since Lincoln became president.

Sp4 Byron Skinner…I've made it a policy not to discuss sex, religion or politics with fellow service members and I won't change now. In reality the changes with in the military have really nothing to do with who is President or who controls Congress but what the enemy demands. The military of 2000 is obsolete today…With in the new couple of decades it would appear that the major activity of the US military will be as it has been since 9/11. The so called major threats of China and Russia if they mature into viable opponents of the United States will not happen until after mid century, by the admission of both China and Russia. Money and resources along with lagging in technology will prevent with of these potential threats to mature before the 2050's…The US military is evolving into a smaller light force that utilizes technology to lengthen the battle space. The MGM 140 will give BCT a 189 mile deep kill zone, new Strykers will provide A 30mm for Infantry fire support. A mobile gun of either 105mm or the new light weight 120mm that weights under 30 tons is being considered, More ammunition using PBNX in place of RDX, combat fighting vehicles light enough to cross Russian bridges, again more fire support. Dismounts can't have enough organic combat power. The only thing that is not on the table is the M4A1 it's 60 year old design and thing and will be no match for the AK 12/15 that Russ has decided to go ahead now as replacements for the 8 million AK 74's in warehouses…For the Sea Services a smaller Amphibious force, i.e.. Odyssey Lightening, a new frigate that will be able to do support for amphibious assaults. The USAF will gat all of their F-35 which will be obsolete by the time they become operational. The really good news is the F-35 will be obsolete not because of something either Russia or China will do but on emerging and already developed technologies that will make the F-35 an expensive useless lesson in you can't take 30 years to build an airplane. Dream list, The Army get back some fixed wing capabilities so they don't have to relay on the USAF for ground support.

I'm estatic that Clinton lost and unhappy that Trump won. We have more than one choice in this country and more people need to exercise their options to support third party candidates.

As to the specific question, I suspect more of the same. I expect that the establishment owners of Congress will continue to line their nest at taxpayer expense and that special interest factions will continue to purchase Congressional votes with their money. The President has limited power and absolutely no power to pass laws, cut or increase taxes, increase or decrease budgets, or any of the myriad actions promised by the candidates. Congress is the key to change and Congress hasn't changed.

First off, A Challenge: It has been a long time since I was in college so I can't speak to conditions on campus now but apparently in the Schools of Journalism, the curriculum has changed drastically over the years. A journalist (A.K.A. Reporter) was taught to report the events of the day in their jurisdictions. They were taught to perform their tasks in a fair, factual, truthful and balanced manner without bias or opinion. Today it is obvious that the schools have changed their ideas changing journalists into commentators thus giving them the power to present facts from only one point of view and even fail to report all of the facts, especially ones that do not follow their agenda. So here is the challenge. Each and every citizen of this great nation needs to contact all of the media outlets, radio, TV, print and internet and demand that their "Journalists" be journalists, not commentators.

If that happens, we will have clearer views of what our leaders are doing, not just what the media wants to show us.

I truly believe that we can only go up and forward and once again become a country that will be proud and not ashamed. I want unity and I believe Mr. Trump will provide the MUCH NEEDED LEADERSHIP to get us there. Obama had eight years to unite and look at where we are now?

I am very optimistic; many complain that he has no government experience and is a narcissist. Well, we have had too many years of government experience and that has gotten us 20 trillion in debt and a divided land with NFL players kneeling for the very thing that should unite us. The biggest narcissist is currently in the White House, and he had nothing on his resume; still refuses to see this was a vote against him. He has lost more democrat seats since he has been in office in all history but still sees himself as one of the best we have had...lol. I am encourgaed by the cabinet picks so far; build the military, cut taxes, trim regulations and release capitalism to do what only it can do.

In the area of National so far President Elect Trump has made some excellent choices Retired Marines Marine General at Defense and Kelly at DHS could be a chance for the emergence of a new formation. With dealing with terrorist a problem exist in that individual incidents involve both domestic and foreign activity and often break both state and Federal Law but not at the same period of development. Example fire arms laws in California, many don't break any Federal Law but do California Law. If the state of California arrest somebody on a state fire arms law and determines that the person arrested might have attempted a terrorist act that would be Federal Law, the can't try the individual on something she/he might have done if the state had not enforced a fire arms law. What is clearly needed is a legal system that is in-between state and Federal Code specifically to deal with terrorists or potential terrorists, this is where Secretary Kelly and the DHS could come in. This would in fact develop a third legal system that dealt with terrorists and issues of terrorist where ever the act or planned act may have occurred. Example somebody outside the United States planning a terrorists event in the US. There is no clear cut jurisdiction here.

Hopefully reform the DOJ and EPA and make them politically neutral. Stop the war on the Constitution and especially the 2nd Amendment. Break the ceiling on defense spending so we can fill the gaps in manpower and equipment and boost our capabilities.

The last 8 years didn't work, in the eyes of the rest of the world, we are weak. Our military is stretched beyond its means, our citizens are under-employed, over-taxed, and those that are working are barely getting by while watching others scamming the government on their dime. Hopefully we will see a lot more respect for all in uniform! PC leadership will be replaced with stronger minded Flag Officers with competent views of what is required to set standards for a new cohesive team spirit of pride without a progressive political influence. A chain of command based on earned positions of competence without fear of reprisal due to politically inclined leaders! The best, with highest competitiveness, should be our leadership standards again! Cleaning out poor leaders and return to excellence within every level in promotions! Uncover those crosses and make dress standards equal without exceptions! Make traditions and military history again promoted as a part of service pride! Transgender or other progressive agendas should be cast aside as the military's gender policies shouldn't become a social engineering lab! We fight to win in battle and anything that inhibits that is nonsense. I hope we again restore our military with equipment and the leaders we need to move forward under President Trump!

Sp4 Byron Skinner, The current US Military especial the ground forces are worn out, their equipment is both no longer approbate for the mission and worn out. USArmy in the DEcember 16th issue of Soldiers Magazine made it very cleat. If you haven't read it get a copy and do. The Army and the same goes for the Marines haven't modernized its equipment sine 2000. Tactics have been created on the fly, Field Manual and Technical Manuals are at least a generation behind what the ground forces mission currently is. The Army has two different wars to fight the continental nation state wars and the Asymmetric warfare, which can as seen in 2003 accompany a traditional war. Then there is terrorism. A lingering policy on the non combat roll in things like natural disasters, fire fighting, the militaries roll in civil disobedience. Currently most soldiers get no training in these rolls that the public expects the military to assume. Most soldiers get very little Medical Aid training, communications on civilian frequencies have to be instantly put in place, the operation and management of evacuation centers. Providing legal aid to victims of a mass event like an urban fire or a terrorists event that kills people in the dozens and causes a lot of property damage, logistics for everything, the civilian world is not prepared. There must be a quick procedure to open up war stocks on food, medicine, bedding, tents or portable building that can be erected in a sports stadium parking lot. The get the goos to the site of need and to maintain the supply line and a war for site managers, i.e. Military Officers to request need items or help. A field mess facility that could feed 20,000 people both displaced people as well as responders. Should all soldiers be armed, at least with a handgun who are assigned to a disaster response. What are the ROE's in a civil disaster or a civil disorder. About ten years ago in the second of the major wild fires we had in San Diego County I volunteered to help out at Qualcomm Stadium where over the course of a week 50,000 people passed through. The wet hungry, worried, no module phone communications, tired and generally in a pissed off mode. My son a professional Chef helped get the food set up but there was no provision in FEMA or the Military to get food, fortunately the community got together and grocery stores and just peopler came by with food and water bottle. This is the type of situation the military will find itself dealing with. For the first three days until police officers from the midwest and east of the Mississippi could come to San Diego the regular beat officer and traffic officers and a hand full of us "civilians" worked thins out. As solders you are going to have to know where to put a smoking area, smoking is almost the foist problem after food and water that you will have to deal with. In the case of Qualcomm Stadium we found an isolated spot on the parking lot, a student make smoking area signs, got some cheap plastic patio furniture for a local grocery wholesaler and with in a couple of hours we had an area for smoker that everybody could agree with, nobody was happy but they agreed with the solution. This is what the military will have to deal with, often the basic early decisions will be made nu enlisted personal. An Infantry may fine him/herdelf setting up a medical facility for expecting mothers.
