Dress body armor?

So, I am watching a movie about the Romans, and I was thinking (not seriously thinking, but still), wouldn't it be interesting if out dress uniforms included a sort of ceremonial armor? That would be freakin' hot. What do you think?

Pass. We (well, enlisted members of my wing) can't even get the basics like safety boots or uniforms because of holds on the budget. Maternity uniforms are worth their weight in gold too.

So let me get this straight, you want to enjoy the honor of wearing an extra 30+ lbs of gear during change of command (seriously, when else would we wear such ridiculousness) ceremonies? There's a name for guys like you, freakin' blue falcons. Now, give me MJLONIR armor and I think I can meet you somewhere half way.

Every Marine secretly dreams of (properly in accordance with the LOAC and ROE) killing an enemy with his/her Mameluke or NCO sword... why not add some armor?

I'd hit it. I'd hit it so hard that whoever pulled me out would become the next king of England.

Really though, I hate ASUs. I dislike the lack of unit/deployment patches. Give those back and I'll go back to not caring much. But taking those away is honestly insulting to the history of those traditions. Wearing blue, green or black I don't care about. Just a piece of shit E-4's opinion though.

Ok, so the fact that soldiers wear about an 80 pound combat load (give or take) didn't come into the thought here, I am not entirely unopposed to a "Dress Armor but it needs to be kept "Light", don't get me wrong, I attended more than a few Change of Command ceremonies in my few short years in the Army, and standing in the elements for an hour or more without moving sucks in just "Class B" uniforms sucks by itself, and someone wants to "Add" additional weight to the soldiers in ranks!? Ok hear me out, the Marines have, hands down the sharpest looking uniforms in the military . period. Not bashing any uniform in a any sense of the manner, but to have a "Dress Armor" for certain ceremonies "Could" be really nice. I.e. Presidential election, Commanders change of Command ect. But keep those "Dress Armor uniforms limited to certain soldiers as an accent to the units directly involved, like the Honor Guard, or the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Armor? Probably not.
But I do think we should return to the tradition of being armed in uniform -- at least for officers and NCOs
