DTMS - Digital Training Management System (What's your opinion on it?)

For the longest time I had no clue what DTMS was, mostly because my units never used the system. I recently went through the course and found that it was pretty useful. Do your units use this system? Do you find that it's another system we have that is useless?

Roger That SGT, it is a requirement in the MEDCOM that all units use the program. It is actually very useful. Good Luck getting the inputs from the sections and even the individuals it calls for in a timely manner.

Fort Riley is getting big on using DTMS. I just wished it linked with other systems, like ATRRS, Emilpo and MEDPROS. I feel like every time I input things into DTMS it is double the work. It has a long way to go before it can be called "user friendly" that's for sure.

DTMS is an invaluable tool. Unfortunately, some Commands are rather "slow" in promoting/enforcing use of it. Utilization of DTMS helps to streamline training and make it easier to accomplish. Seems most Commands are scared of using it because it makes the unit/command "transparent"...as to what they are REALLY doing in regards to training, etc.

I was a Master Trainer for DTMS for 8 years, I taught the first Joint class at Scott AFB for USTRANSCOM. It is a great tool if used properly. This is a program i wish they had back when I first became an OPS NCO with 2/10 Air Cav Fort Ord CA in the 84, it would have made life a lot easier. For those of you that want it all working now, be patient it does take time to get new links to work with this system. I have worked with everyone at the DTMS celland trust me they get just as frustrated as you do if not more so when things don't go right. If I had the chance I would go back and an be an instructor for this course.

The DTMS program, although requiring massive amounts of bandwidth, is a tool seldom used. It requires attention to detail, the knowledge of the units METL and CATS, and is a massive time sink in order to do it properly.

However, once you've built a template for your routine events, it is just a matter of modifying/adding events that need to be annotated. It gets faster the more some uses it.

It is a great system, and required IAW AR 350-1. Simple, but unfortunately not easy.

Yes they use it, but i'm not too familiar either. I am supposed to be that person. for the unit (so they say). Is this something done online?
