I have also known a couple linguists who did work for DTRA. They seemed to enjoy it for the most part. You need to be ready to travel a fair bit, but that is usually not a problem for us, is it? The opportunity is definitely there: DTRA needs Russian linguists.<br /><br />Here's a six-year-old article about this topic, which seems old, but I know the requirement and the opportunity still exist.<br /><br /><a target="_blank" href="http://www.defense.gov/news/newsarticle.aspx?id=51626">http://www.defense.gov/news/newsarticle.aspx?id=51626</a> <div class="pta-link-card answers-template-image type-default"> <div class="pta-link-card-picture"> <img src="https://d26horl2n8pviu.cloudfront.net/link_data_pictures/images/000/004/253/qrc/dodlogo.png?1443025400"> </div> <div class="pta-link-card-content"> <p class="pta-link-card-title"> <a target="blank" href="http://www.defense.gov/news/newsarticle.aspx?id=51626">Article View</a> </p> <p class="pta-link-card-description">Official website for U.S. DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE</p> </div> <div class="clearfix"></div> </div> Response by CW5 Private RallyPoint Member made Oct 27 at 2014 12:31 PM 2014-10-27T12:31:32-04:00 2014-10-27T12:31:32-04:00 SFC Private RallyPoint Member 300164 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>SPC,<br /> Rumblings around the linguist community about working at DTRA have been overwhelmingly positive and there is heavy language use there. Also, it's great for career progression as a linguist. If it's something you are interested in, contact your PDNCO and have him put you down as a volunteer. It's a nominative position, so they they will reach out and contact qualified people when they need someone. You can also look at their website (<a target="_blank" href="http://www.dtra.mil/">http://www.dtra.mil/</a>) for some basic information about the agency. <div class="pta-link-card answers-template-image type-default"> <div class="pta-link-card-picture"> <img src="https://d26horl2n8pviu.cloudfront.net/link_data_pictures/images/000/004/339/qrc/DODseal80.png?1443025590"> </div> <div class="pta-link-card-content"> <p class="pta-link-card-title"> <a target="blank" href="http://www.dtra.mil/">Defense Threat Reduction Agency</a> </p> <p class="pta-link-card-description">The official homepage of the Defense Threat Reduction Agency</p> </div> <div class="clearfix"></div> </div> Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Oct 29 at 2014 6:30 PM 2014-10-29T18:30:39-04:00 2014-10-29T18:30:39-04:00 Laura Shaw 1313315 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I am seeking full time Linguists for positions overseas, in support of the military. :)<br /> [login to see] Response by Laura Shaw made Feb 18 at 2016 8:31 PM 2016-02-18T20:31:54-05:00 2016-02-18T20:31:54-05:00 2014-10-26T23:00:51-04:00
