PVT Private RallyPoint Member 6100303 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Hello all,<br /> I am currently enlisted in the ARMY, in my 1st month of AIT and about to receive my orders for my first duty station. I am looking to be stationed close to my spouse and dependents. My spouse is currently in the Marine corps, I know the army has the Army couples program but I noticed I&#39;m not eligible for the program since he is a different service. I&#39;ve tried asking my drill sergeants but they recommended me here since they haven&#39;t been in this situation. If anyone has experience please let me know what I can do. thank you! The Army does not have to send you near your Marine spouse and you are needs of the army for your first assignment Response by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Jul 14 at 2020 12:50 PM 2020-07-14T12:50:31-04:00 2020-07-14T12:50:31-04:00 MAJ Byron Oyler 6101113 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>The cold reality is you will likely not be assigned in the same area as the married couples programs are generally when in the same branch and we still do not play well with other branches. Your drills probably punted here you because the reality is not something fun to tell folks. If later you find that I am wrong, please look me up here or via outlook and tell me as with this I would love to be wrong. I also need to be giving sound advise. Explain the situation and see if there are options to go where your spouse currently is. Unfortunately, I would have to say that the odds are not in your favor. Good luck. Branch is the only person that can help but it will not be easy and you not likely be close enough for the two of you to live together as we don’t have a lot of bases close to the Marines. Considering he is already in and probably has established some rapport with the people that handle his assignment he may try to get closer to you after you are assigned. Good luck this will be an arduous journey Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Jul 14 at 2020 8:02 PM 2020-07-14T20:02:25-04:00 2020-07-14T20:02:25-04:00 SSG Roger Ayscue 6102836 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>You are likely looking at in the same state and never overseas together. I hate to say this but I have to, and I bet lots of people reading this are thinking this. Did you guys really think this through? I mean Fort Bragg is about two hours and a half from Camp Lejeune in North Carolina. IF you were both in support units it is possible you could have a home half way between and have a hell of a drive each day. That being said, it is no fun to get up at 0300 for work, I did it for a couple years at Fort Bragg, while in the 82d just on the 2 hour recall line....It sucked. Good luck to you and perhaps he might want to become a Soldier.
