Why is dumping our history, regardless of feeling, such a trending thing to do?

More than 3,000 people have signed petitions calling for Virginia to remove Confederate leader Jefferson Davis’ name from a state highway amid national scrutiny over the Confederate flag.

The name Jefferson Davis Highway applies to U.S. 1 (Route 1) that runs from the Potomac River through Virginia to the North Carolina border. Other highways in the South are also named for Davis.

The Washington Post reports Virginia’s legislature voted to rename highways in Davis’ honor in 1922 at the behest of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. According to the Federal Highway Administration website, advocates wanted a Southern equivalent to the coast-to-coast Lincoln Highway.

It's another disgusting trend by the left to rewrite history. Since the liberal media has to offer something 24/7 while shielding the liberal policy-makers' failures, this has to be the bogey man that rises to the top of the heap. Next week it will be something else that has nothing to do with iran, isis, benghazi, fast and furious, lois learner, hillary's illegal email server, et. al.

Let us step out of the overly sensitive social and political arena for a second and think about dollars and cents. The sheer cost of this alone should preclude it from being actually considered as a viable action. You want to talk about wasteful government spending....this is it "Wasteful Spending 101" if it actually goes forward.

Misinformation and bias based on emotions not reality seem to be a theme of the mob!

William Shakespeare said it best: "Much ado about nothing".

What does any of this have to do with the tragedy that inspired it? Indeed, it is nothing but a distraction from the real causes. It saps the energy that might better be used to devise and implement real solutions to real problems.

To put Shakespeare's statement in more modern terms, it is "political theater".
