Environmental Officer 72D?

I know I do to many questions here and everybody is been really helpful here. My paperwork was disapprove because the requirements are Bachelor In Science Environmental Science and mine is Bachelor is Science Environmental Management. I’m confused in this matter, my degree still Bachelor in Science in Environmental, anyone here that has a similar experience? It is confusing because my degree has their requirements.

That’s interesting. My Master’s is in Environmental Science Management and it was used as the qualifying education for predetermination as a 72D (bachelors in microbiology). Were you found disqualified by the recruiter or the consultant?

My unit commander has a bachelors in zoology, and a masters in environmental science. She was given the Entomologist AOC and has been constantly denied the Environmental Science AOC.

The degree curriculum must have, at a minimum, 45 semester hours in any combination of mathematics and pure science courses (e.g., botany, entomology, geology, environment science, microbiology, biology, zoology, epidemiology, chemistry, physics, etc). The main issue with environmental management degrees are the over-abundance of more “management” type courses, and not enough fundamental science courses. I’m willing to bet your degree might’ve been under the 45 required minimum. This info comes from the Deputy Consultant, LTC Bible. Even if you have a qualifying degree title, you may need to take more fundamental science courses in addition to your curriculum for everything to add up.

Additionally, environmental science is only one type of qualifying degree title. Environmental Engineering, Environmental Health (my major), Industrial Hygiene, Biochemistry (another 72D with me currently at DCC has this one), Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Environmental Management, etc, may all count.

I have a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science with a concentration in Fish and Wildlife. Mine was denied a 2nd time for not meeting the education requirements. The first time last year it was denied I was told that I needed at least 30 hrs. of the hard science and math courses and 15 of soft sciences but I only had 24 hard sciences per the review board. I was told I only needed two more hard science courses to meet the requirement which I completed. This year my CV was denied again but there has been no clear guidance as to why. My recruiter has requested an RFI and we have yet to receive a clear answer. I have also reached out to the review board and the ESEO FB page. Normally I get a quick response from them but I have not received anything back as of yet.

It'd really help to know explicitly, with actual course titles, as well as grades, GPAs, assocs if any, as well as any grad level stuff thus far, exactly what you've taken, both STEM and non-STEM...trust me, I was around a good many academic blocks for a really long time, though I'm total perm disabled now...give us specifics, if you can, so far as possible, the more specific you are on here about such aspects, the more all of us can suggest...I appreciate your question, and why you phrased it as you did, however, degree titles alone are insufficient to answer such questions, honest...and look at the USPHS site I'd sent in here, esp their stuff on Jr and Sr COSTEP, their analogue to ROTCs, that can, I "think", also be used for grad schools, as well as undergrad, they "might" also be able to use you, call them and ask, they have a toll-free to their recruiting office, ask explicitly about science research aspects, and see if they'd have an interest, possibly also from the engineering standpoint, incl sanitary engineering, as well, seriously, indulge me, try it, I'd be curious to know if they'd be interested at all, I'd trained under an O-6 of theirs during my externships for my allied-health doctorate, though we shut my license a long while ago, I never got to go in with them, though I'd really wanted to, Congress had allowed them an inactive Reserve that was eventually shut down, I'm afraid, OK?

You might all seriously want to look at these...typically, these are warrant and commissioned programs, though I've seen instances where senior NCOs got into AFIT, the USAF grad school...however, purely from a scientific standpoint, you should all be familiar with these, as well, certainly, OK?

I got clarification today. They interpret the reg as needing 30 hard science and math. Must now be calculus or above and only certain science courses count. I have zoological and botanical courses they did not count even though the reg said zoological and botanical courses count. I do not know how they go about deciding what counts and what doesnt, but last year i was told i was 6 credits away from meeting the requirement now I'm 16 and I took two more science courses last year to meet the requirement. I dont know if that helps you decide what you should take next. I recommend the common science course and upper level math I. Order to be on the safe side

There is a huge difference between environmental science and environmental management. I have the BS for environmental science but I am not qualified for an environmental management position. My science degree covers areas such as reclamation, delineation, GIS mapping, and conservation among others. My focus was entirely on environmental aspects within biology, chemistry, and physics which had me take the higher math courses (calculus I, II, and III, Advanced Statistics, differential equations, etc.)

Hello and I am sorry to hear that. Were they looking for a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Sciences? I hold a Bachelor of Science Env. Science with concentration in technology and management. Currently working on MS. I believe the wording is a bit confusing. I would like to apply to the program but I need help. Do you have any suggestions? I continue to read about the specific college credits needed for the program and is somewhat discouraging. I am prior service AF medical tech and hold an AS in Nursing. How challenging it is for prior service to be accepted? .. I am 36 y/o.
