Was not able to get it in my contract due to unavailability, so I just want to make sure the opportunity will be offered.

My suggestion: pick up the phone and get with your recruiter and tell him/her to work it! Are going regular army or National Guard? You are not fully commited until you sign a new contract (DD Form 4) the day you ship. Therefore you can still get with your recruiter and box him/her. There is Basic Airborne course starting every week so they shouldn’t have a problem. Don't waste time!!!’n

That was my thoughts. I've never seen RA Infantry turned down for Airborne and like you said, there is a class starting every week. If you are National Guard and not assigned to one of the few Airborne units, your chances of a slot are none.

Ill be in the regular Army. I thought it was strange that I wasnt able to get it in my contract, cause I thought it was a fairly common thing that soldiers were able to do. Especially weird cause I have a pretty high AFQT and GT score. Any ideas why my recruiter wasnt able to get that in my contract?

I will absolutely fight for it, I know it is something I want to do and I'll do what it takes to get it.

When I went through basic/OSUT, they asked the top 5 PT studs in my company if they wanted to go to airborne school. As long as your DS has no issues with you and you are squared away and hold a high PT score compared to everyone else, you should be good. Your best bet is to ask your DS about it and see what he says. He can always ask someone he knows who is an Airborne Instructor. I will can try and reach out to a few of my buddies who are currently DS at Ft Benning.

I was going to ask the DS as soon as I get there and im working towards a 300 on my PT. Im also wanting to become a PG while im there. I want to take advantage of every opportunity that is presented to me. But thank you for the information Sergeant! Your input helps a lot.

PFC (Join to see) - You're definitely welcome. Good luck and God Speed. Remember, don't be a blue falcon and tell your DS everything. Instead, if you see something wrong like contraband or anything that can get you in trouble, just talk to your battle buddies and find a solution so you are not known as the PLT tattle tail. Being a PG is good responsibility but it is definitely a good way to learn more. Just remember, as a leader you are responsible for what your subordinates do AND fail to do.

Disregard my last comment. I guess you can’t delete a comment like Facebook. Anyway, can you score at least a 270 on your pt test? You probably won’t get offered it unless you are in an airborne unit. Even then if you can’t get at least a 270 most units won’t bother to send you.
