Everyone keeps telling me that I'm going to be disqualified for having only one kidney...so when does this disqualification come?

Yeah, I know, you've all told me that I'm never going to get into any branch of the military with only one kidney. The Army has already disqualified me and now I'm in the middle of trying to enlist in the Air Force. People keep telling me that I have no chance of joining, but I'm making more progress than you've all expected. My recruiter has my medical papers and he knows all about my one kidney. And yet, he didn't turn me down and give me an automatic disqualification. He said I can go take the ASVAB, which I took today and scored a 94 on, and then he said that he'll send my scores down to be looked at so that I can be considered for MEPS.
So....when does this so-called "automatic disqualification" show up, because I ain't seeing it. I took the ASVAB, scored high on it, and now I'm being considered for MEPS. And what happens when my recruiter says I'm in the clear for MEPS? What happens when I pass the physical and MEPS lets me swear in? What happens when they notice that my one kidney doesn't impede me in any way? Chances are you all will still be saying "You're never gonna get in! You're disqualified!"
I honestly just typed this up because I like that I'm proving you guys wrong so far. I've made it farther than any of you have anticipated and I'm just the type of guy who likes to rub things in.

I get the impression that if you do somehow manage get into the military, you will not make it through your first Enlistment.
The military is a small place. You asked for advice, they gave you the best advice based on reference and policy. You went out of your way to mock and spit in the face of the people who shared their experience and knowledge with you. Pettiness is a poor trait for a future leader.

CPL Joseph Elinger - I don't know why you directed this to me but medically and physically I don't think I'd want him in a unit I was part of. I agree with your answer thoroughly. . I wouldn't want to have to count on him in either capacity.

His hubris sounds like something to get you killed. I agree with the advice presented based on policy. In my speciality, we would get him out of our division asap if, he even made it.

Great that you'd like to enlist.
Unfortunately, the automatic disqualification occurred on, or before, April 28, 2010.
Department of Defense Instruction NUMBER 6130.03, April 28, 2010,
Incorporating Change 1, September 13, 2011, states:
2. MEDICAL STANDARDS. Throughout this enclosure, ICD, CPT and HCPCS codes are included with most medical conditions and procedures, usually parenthetically, to aid cross-referencing. Unless otherwise stipulated, the conditions listed in this enclosure are those that do NOT meet the standard by virtue of current diagnosis, or for which the candidate has a verified past medical history. The medical standards for appointment, enlistment, or induction into the Military Services are classified by the general systems described in sections 3-3031 of this enclosure.
16.h. Conditions associated with the kidneys, including:
(1) Current absence of one kidney, congenital (753.0) or acquired (V45.73) (CPT 50220-50236).

Heavy Calluses?
Wow!
I had a wicked case of them & (seriously): 1 Pedicure, problem solved. No kidding!
PS: My local Barber/Beauty School charges $5 for a Haircut, & $14 for a Pedicure.
Too cost effective.
LOL !

I'll bet it's something like in retail sales. You get credit for your sales, & deducted for returns.
In time, the stats speak louder.
I had the lowest returns of ,y sales ratios, but inbound return customers were ALWAYS my prospects for making right the previous remorse & making my sale.
LOL !

Well THAT was just about as clear cut and unambiguous as you can get. Still, a phrase almost as old as the UD Military itself is “there is a wavier for everything.” So maybe there is a small chance. Given this kids attitude, I can’t decide if I am rooting for or against him. He Wants to serve his country and is trying hard to overcome his obstacles, which is admirable. The shitty attitude displayed in his post here though ...

Madison, your attitude sucks. If they let you enlist, then come back and thank all of the RallyPoint members that were trying to help you.

"being as strong as the weakest link" comes to mind. How many men are accepted in the armed forces with ZERO CHARACTER. Four years later a few are worthy of the uniform. Let us have faith in the system and leadership to make something out of nothing, for the lack of a kidney is the least of this individuals problems. He doesn't need another Kidney, he needs a Brain. THAT COST and time is just WAY TO MUCH.

I was called into the recruiting office by my recruiter and he told me that MEPS has kicked back my medical papers with a PDQ. There was a handwritten note from one of the doctors. It basically said that my one kidney is a condition that they'll never give a waiver for and that my disqualification is across all branches, not just the Air Force. Is this really the end of my military career? I read online that you could possibly contact your...

I don't know by your name if your male or female, doesn't matter to me and it won't matter if you get in. My advice, 1) get your head out of your rectal deformity and try being more gracious to those that have shared their knowledge. That also really doesn't matter either, I've seen several cocky male/female recruits hit the yellow foot prints, and the DI's will certainly help you with an attitude adjustment. 2) Take your appeal directly to President Trump, (CIC), he is the only one at this stage that can "order" it done.
My advice on that though, is you better summon every speck of humility you can way down in your "pity party" hole, and show verbally, how you are committed to at least one tour of serving your Country. Have some Veterans that you can find to "proof read" it several times so that you strike the correct balance of tone and tenner, as in Respect for the CIC and Services, desire to serve, and Duty to Country. As it's been said, you started with a slim to no chance of serving, but the optimist in me says you got nothing to loose by going to the Senior Member of the Chain of Command. All he can say is, "sorry, but No". If you have the intestinal fortitude and courage, go for it. As I used to tell my Team Mates, "hitch up you nut sack or boob sack" gender specific, because we're back to only two genders in the Military again, and take your case to the man.
Good luck and Semper Fidelis.
