When it came time for it to actually be relevant, the judge pushed it to the side and allowed my ex to keep my son (3 states away from his provider) until I returned from deployment. However, I've heard many times that the mother is usually more inclined to keep a child, and I believe that has something to do with the way possessions are split during divorce. I hope my post gets you more attention from RallyPoint members that can offer better assistance and information based on experience.
