I just visited the house that Mel Gibson filmed the movie, We were Soldiers a couple of weeks ago. Our friends were watching our kids while we attend a unit function down the road on post. I was talking to the owner and he pointed out the street, rooms, and mentioned specific scenes from the movie that showed the house. What is interesting is that the house is entered from the back since there is no front street. The front is just a small lawn and then there is a steep and wooded embankment going down.

Well there's my second garage which is the envy of all the other guys in the cul-de-sac. Then there's my not so famous lawn which is the bane of the lawn-Nazis which live on either side of me.

Famous, yet little known at the same time.

Fort Belvoir is home to the Army's central collection of artifacts (30k+) and paintings (16k+) from the Army's birth until today.

I went to school at MCAS Tustin, CA and the hangers were not only the largest wooden structures that housed blimps, they also filmed several big screen films there.

As a civi, I worked in the hanger at Love Field that JFK was brought to after the assassination.
