We have been waiting 2 weeks to be out into a class . Other recycles have been wasting 3-4 weeks . We do crap details , and just spend the rest of out time in the barracks room doing nothing. We cant have snacks ,drinks or any on base passes (coronavirus ) . Many of us are getting really bored. We asked the company commander If we can get somebody to tutor us, stand in the back if any class and learn ir download the software on the computers at our barracks that nobody uses so we can practice . She said no . So now we are at a stand still watching our platoon move forward while we wait and waste time. Many people are giving up but they don't care . What should I do in this situation ? How can I make myself feel better ? Sometimes I don't feel like this is worth it and fear I'mjust gonna fail another test and be stuck in the same loop . Any suggestions or advice Feeling depressed as I failed my test and getting recycled ? 2020-06-06T13:37:45-04:00 PVT Private RallyPoint Member 5976632

I failed my test halfway through 92y Ait , in the national guard . You might have failed but you still have the chance to train again and get it right. You’re at a crossroad within your young career. You can put your ruck on and climb thyme mountain or you can go home. Yes sometimes details are crappy, but take the time to see the grander scheme of things. What I mean is take whatever detail or task you do throughout the day and apply it to your MOS. You’ll be surprised what you can pull from to make yourself a better person and soldier. Go and do PT. It may suck but YOU are getting better. This is where you find out about yourself. Last week I double tapped a test and now I'm a recycle, I'm on hold till another person fails and I can take their spot and try again, could be months of details and being bored out of my mind. These things happen, you're not the first to recycle and won't be the last. I know it sucks now but you will get back into class at some point and you need to be ready. Focus on studying your material and being with other soldiers, laying in your room alone and bored is a bad move. Recycles here can go to the gym which helps kill the day, maybe you can too? I always tell myself the fastest way out of here to the real ARMY is to just get through this, you had a setback and it's okay but if you give up you're going to be here longer and it's going to suck even more. You can do this, people before you have done it and you can too. What are you struggling with? Is it GCSS army or taking tests? This course is mainly Cntrl F and knowing where to find information.

Did you take notes during the time you were in class we're you given study material if so can you reference the coursework.

You will be given another chance. It looks like you need to develop a good study habit to continue moving forward.

The Army does not change for you. As a Soldier, you need to adapt to the military AIT is just the start you will be in military schools your entire career if you can't adapt then NCOES courses will be challenging.

Now is the time to change your attitude and study habits adapt find a way to study and prepare I am fairly certain most knowledge is available if you look for it. Utilize this time to work on your No-Go's. It sounds like you are trying to pass this AIT course study, check with another instructor about working on your COURSE TRAIN: Unit Supply Specialist (92Y) Advanced Individual Training (AIT) Course.

CONTENT: Course provides apprenticeship training in all critical tasks dealing with requesting, receiving, issuing, and maintaining or establishing accountability of individual, organizational, installation, and expendable/durable supplies and equipment. These tasks also include security and administration of a unit arms room as well as organizational maintenance of small arms. At skill level 10, the 92Y receives, inspects, inventories, loads, unloads, segregates, stores, issues, delivers and turns in organization and installation supplies and equipment. The 92Y prepares all unit/organization supply documents and accounts for Army property, supplies and equipment using the Global Combat Support System-Army (GCSS-Army) automated supply system. In the small arms area, the 92Y issues and receives small arms, secures and controls weapons and ammunition in security areas, and schedules and performs preventive and organizational maintenance on weapons.

The trouble with the ARMY is that its a huge machine and they just can't cater to individuals and unfortunately you will be recycled and assigned to another rotation. You can do this and pass, there are many ahead of you and there will be many to follow as Supply is 99% accountability. Inspections, inventory, storage etc. You are the specialist that will know where everything is in your unit The Army can't function without your position. You are a very important soldier in the Army. I was there well before the Corona broke out and I didn't fail any tests but me and my battle were hold-unders which just meant we had to wait for more members of our MOS to arrive before we officially had a class together and could start school. This went on for about two and a half months and we ended up having a lot of free time outside of PT and doing details. My advice would be to try your best to motivate yourself. During my time off I worked out in my room to stay on top of PT or I made sure my AKO and ACT were set up right or I would study by borrowing the old packets from my battles that were already in or nearly done with classes. I'm not sure about your MOS but with mine we had a lot of notes and packets we could study from so we would be prepared. Another piece of advice I'm going to give is to build your confidence back up. Sounds like failing that test got you down so go back and look at what tripped you up and learn from it so that you know you won't fail a second time over. The goal is to look forward and do better once you get your second chance. You use a lot of plural first person pronouns, "we" and "us". The army is a team. We succeed as a team and we fail as a team. You posting on this forum is the first step. Towards reaching your goal.

A wise NCO once told me that I'm only authorized to complain about something twice. After that, unless i was doing something to fix the issue, no complaints were authorized.

You and your ait battle buddies are a team. If you all are getting bored and losing morale, take the lead. Offer them something to do. Dont bark orders at them like a DS, but offer the idea to make use of the time and better themselves while training is halted.

Chances are a few of them feel the same way you do and want to make a difference. Get on a workout routine, do prt drills or conditioning drills to work on your pt test. Do it with a group. It's easier to maintain motivation for self improvement when you are part of a team.

Find something to draw motivation from. I'm a reservist, but I wear my dog tags every day. The jingle around my neck keeps me motivated while I'm doing PT and reminds me why I decided to serve. Find your motivation to serve, whether it's your dog tags on your neck, the flag on your shoulder, a significant other back home, or even your battle buddies to your left and right. Keep the faith and soldier on.

You could also post on rally point that you need some motivation. I'm sure there are enough current and retired CSMs and 1SGs on here that could give you motivation for the rest of your career.
