For a direct commission into the Army or Air Force Reserve as a nurse, what specialties are needed, and are there any incentives to join?

Looking for some insight on direct commissioning, specialties needed, incentives to join etc! I’ll take any info you’ve got.. I’ve contacted army and Air Force reserve recruiters and have been waiting a few days for responses. Also, what’s the process of joining the guard as a civilian? I’ve also contacted several guard units and waiting.. Thanks!!

If you mean join as a civilian and stay a civilian, any civilian guard jobs can be found on USA Jobs, or by contacting the unit directly to see if they have any full time civilan jobs available.

Incentives and needed specialties change often, your best source of information would be the recruiters. I would start with what is your experience or specialty? Generally you need at least a couple of years experience in any given specialty to even apply. FYI it is a loooooooong process, get ready to do some paperwork, and then some more paperwork. Ana ~~. Joining the ARNG as a civilian is like joining the Army as a Dept of the Army Civilian. The positions available are admin and support and usually never Professional positions like a Nurse, Doctor, JAG. So don’t see any chance unless you have a AIC/Specialty where you could go Active Guard Reserve but usually the same applies. Does that answer your question.
