Who will have actual custody of the kids? They will be eligible for housing/BAH. 2. The non-custodial parent MIGHT be eligible for geographical bachelor status which in the old days got reduced BAH. I seriously doubt anyone will authorize BAH twice. Be prepared to live in billets if you don't have the kids in tow, also big problems with this split. Must have a family plan, what if 1 is deployed, or both deployed- this could be a real nightmare. And we do have a family plan in order. Me being stationed anywhere except where he is and just our overall marriage. We both agreed we can do it. I wouldn't do this if I had any doubt that it wouldn't work. It's going to be a challenge but we got this. The BAH is for the dependents, not the service member. Plan on living in the barracks with no BAH especially through IET.
