For all the AMEDD Direct commissions, how long did it take to receive orders after commissioning?

I started the application in May 2018 and my packet was initially kicked back in the first board of FY19 due to new standards for documents. I was selected in the Nov board and from then, I awaited my scroll approval and orders to Commission. I ended up having to return twice to MEPS because of missing documents. Following this, my packet was kicked back because my licenses had to be updated again. I was finally able to sign my oath on March 21. Since then, I have been waiting my orders from HRC. I have already contacted my recruiters who state my packet is at HSD. I have contacted my assignment officer who cannot even access my information. I am aware this is a long process and a lesson on patience; however, it does not make it any less frustrating. Without me even turning in my notice, my employers have already posted my position. Like many of you, I need to work and I am the primary "breadwinner".
This is all to ask if anyone has any advice moving forward? I'm trying to be patient.

Took over two years for me to get HRC to issue orders and I transferred from Air Guard. I had to write my senator and open a congressional inquiry. The army says there is a shortage of surgeons. That may or may not be true. But there is a shortage on processing forms that should have taken 1/10 the amount of time Now i have to go to BOLC. This may take another year or two. Of course nobody’s fault, but Covid-19 will be delaying this and so many other things.

Thank you, Sir! I did make that call last week and ended up having to leave a voicemail. No response yet directly but the the Brigade Commander for my recruiting station is working with HSD to expedite my packet. Apparently, HSD was waiting for my discharge orders from IRR.

I really cannot give you any advice as I applied for a direct commission right as things were getting kicked off in Iraq March 2003. I can tell you the Army Nurse Corps has peaks and lows and there are many uncertainties with DHA taking over. If you really want to wear the uniform, don't forget the Navy and Public Health Corps. I excluded the Air Force simply because they might be the smallest nurse corps. Best advice I would give is push hard to your recruiter and if they don't seem to push hard for you, we may not need NPs this exact moment in the Army and maybe you need to tell them you are finding work elsewhere. Their reaction, mostly non-verbal will provide you a bunch of answers.

The problem isn't a lack of slots. From my understanding, there was a mission for 11 66P and I was the second one to be selected for this FY. I've already signed my contract and oath of office. At this point, I'm waiting for my orders but I feel I've been at a standstill. I inquired for advice to see if there was another avenue of approach to getting my orders moved quicker. Thank you for your advice and suggestion! I had considered other branches, but ultimately decided the Army is where I want to make my home and career.

The DHA changes are a bit unnerving and even those of us at the field grade level don't know from day to day. I have done the Army 20 of my 22 years and the only reason I mention other branches is that if I am involved, I am not pushing them to the Army because of my bias but truly presenting what is out there. Have they told you your first duty station?
