For anyone who has been in a TIC, and has recieved close air support from an A-10. Do you think this is a good budget cut?

Total agree 1SG, my last deployment to Logar province Afghanistan. Those A-10's saved our buts so many times. A-10 is defintely a force multiplier.

SSG Moody, I had CAS from A-10s several times my last deployment. Personally, I think Helo support is better in the environment we dealt with in the mountains, but have had great benefits from A-10 support. They are an amazing show of force for would be combatants. I do not believe we should eliminate them completely, but their use should be limited, especially when Helo support is available.

SGT Souza, I have recieved CAS from A-10's and Apaches. I concur with your statement! Keep some A-10's!

I have not received CAS from an A-10 for myself and my men but I did observe multiple strafe runs by an A-10 for another team in the AO. I think the question here should be if the capabilities of the A-10 can be supported by other fixed wing assets.
