If you take it you continue to get BAH/BAS etc while you are on leave. If you sell it back you get base pay and that's it. also, due to the way the system works, you'll continue to accrue leave while you're on leave. For the the same reasons LTC Bruce Burch just mentioned. Its win win if you do it that way. It also counts toward time in service points, not so if it is sold back Response by SrA Alvin Cook made Jun 1 at 2020 10:51 AM 2020-06-01T10:51:09-04:00 2020-06-01T10:51:09-04:00 CPT Private RallyPoint Member 5958487

One item to think about is the source of funding for the temporary AGR orders...

Insofar that if the funding is finite and your end date is your end date (you can't extend beyond it), you will need to backwards plan your leave so the last day of leave is the last day of your orders.

If you don't do that, and the ability to extend doesn't exist you'll be forced to sell, which for all the reasons everyone's mentioned is not the preferable method. You can only sell 60 days over the course of your entire career. 30 days of leave is worth one month of base pay minus 22% in federal taxes. Save it to sell it when your base pay is worth more Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Jun 1 at 2020 1:00 PM 2020-06-01T13:00:14-04:00 2020-06-01T13:00:14-04:00 TSgt Private RallyPoint Member 5992709

Take the leave...
