For learning purposes, is it important to have a balanced approach, meaning to learn both sides of the story?

To be successful one MUST learn both sides. One cannot come to the truth if limited to only half of the data.

I've found in most cases there are three sides....there is the one side and the other side then there's the truth or the whole side.
