Commandant to commandant..

So if the School of Box folding commandant set the standard for the Commandant's list of:
All 1st time goes on written test
All 1st time goes on hands on Box folding test
No "demerit points"
and no EO complaints...to make the Commandant's list .. more than 20% may meet that standard... Thus YES you can make the Commandant's list and not meet the regulatory standard for "Exceeding course standards"

Bottom line yes it's possible and until you know the criteria set at the time you attended for making the commandant list as well as your placement in the overall enrolment number.. You can not answer your question of, was it appropriate to meet one criteria and not the other.

A call to the school house and request to know you ranking in the enrolment group as well as published standards for making commandant's list should answer your question. Thanks for reaching out. The two absolutely go hand in hand. The CL is the top 20% and those do "exceed course standards". Perhaps it was a clerical error on our part. Have the Soldier get in contact with me and if that is the case we will fix it. "
Keep in mind, he is speaking about the current policy, not 2012... But sounds like you should reach out. Since it was a requirement and my score was lower I received achieved course standards. Sometimes it is the Commandant of the school that sets certain requirements. This will effect your DA Form 1059.
